We are committed to protecting the rights of seniors and empowering them to live with dignity, independence, and security. *Job Summary* The Elder Exploitation Law Project Attorney will provide comprehensive legal representation and advocacy to seniors in St. Lucie, Martin, Okeechobee, Indian River, and Palm Beach Counties, with a focus on issues of elder abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation. This position supports the expansion of services into the Treasure Coast and requires both individual client representation and community engagement. The attorney will represent clients holistically, utilizing litigation, negotiation, and advocacy to achieve clients' goals. The position requires travel within the assigned counties, participation in outreach efforts, and active involvement in community partnerships. Work schedule is generally Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., with occasional evening or weekend work as needed. *ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* * Represent elderly clients in cases involving: \* Elder abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation \* Housing and landlord/tenant issues \* Estate planning and guardianship \* Consumer protection and public benefits matters * Conduct client interviews at office and community locations. * Counsel and advise clients on legal matters and rights. * Investigate cases, gather evidence, and coordinate with agencies and resources. * Draft pleadings, briefs, motions, and other legal documents. * Analyze client facts to identify legal issues and provide referrals when appropriate. * Maintain accurate client records, files, and timekeeping in LegalServer. * Build and maintain relationships with social service agencies, community partners, and government entities. * Deliver community education and trainings for seniors and caregivers. * Participate in outreach events and serve on community, bar, or county committees. * Stay current on developments in Florida law affecting seniors. * Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all agency policies. * Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional team environment. * Develop and maintain relationships with the Palm Beach County Bar Association. * Assist in the development and execution of community education projects and activities. * Serve on community, bar, and county committees where feasible. * Attend staff and other meetings in the community as assigned. * Develop and maintains relationships with social service agencies. * Provide community training on areas impacting veterans and caregivers * Work with other staff members to form a positive, supportive team atmosphere. * Must work the days and hours to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks and be punctual and timely in meeting all performance requirements, including but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines. * Must maintain courteous, professional and effective working relationships with employees and clients of the organization. * Assist the Executive Director and/or supervisor with special projects, assignments and any additional duties as deemed appropriate or as needed. *POSITION REQUIREMENTS:* * Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school. * Active member of the Florida Bar. * 1-3 years of legal experience (litigation experience strongly preferred). * Demonstrated knowledge of Florida and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Evidence. * Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) and e-filing systems. * Ability to handle a diverse, high-volume caseload independently. * Experience with community outreach and public presentations. * Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills. * Strong networking and relationship-building abilities. * Compassionate, client-centered approach with the ability to work with diverse populations. * Must pass Level 2 background screening and internal conflict check process. * Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required. * Willingness to travel throughout the Treasure Coast and Palm Beach County, with occasional overnight travel. on experience. *SALARY: *Salary range depending on experience.
