As UX UI Design Intern, you will join a high-performing design team responsible for shaping the in-cabin digital experience across DTNA's multi-branded portfolio, including Freightliner, Western Star, and business subsidiaries. You will contribute to design projects under the guidance of senior designers, gaining hands-on experience in creating user-centered solutions for production vehicles, advanced design programs, and concept explorations.

Support the creation of user interfaces, design systems, and interaction flows for in-vehicle digital experiences on a global scale for multiple brands.
Collaborate on user research efforts, such as interviews, surveys, and usability tests, to inform design decisions.
Participate in cross-functional workshops and contribute to ideation sessions on the future of connected vehicle experiences.
Assist in creating wireframes, user flows, journey maps, and high-fidelity prototypes.
Help document design rationale and provide clear, annotated handoff assets for engineering and development teams.
Contribute to user personas, sitemaps, and other design deliverables.
Stay updated with UX/UI design trends, tools, and best practices.

Knowledge You Should Bring
Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program or higher from an accredited college/university OR have recently graduated within 1 year of the position start date (May/June)
Degree focus in UX, Interaction Design, Product Design, Visual Design, or related field preferred
A portfolio (academic, internship, or personal projects) that demonstrates strong visual and interaction design skills, curiosity, and problem-solving ability.
Basic knowledge of user-centered design principles, design thinking, and willingness to grow into HMI/UX methods and processes.
Familiarity with design software such as Adobe Creative Suite and Figma (or similar).
Internship or project experience in automotive, mobility, or digital product design preferred
Ability to prepare clear, developer-ready design assets and specifications, ensuring smooth handoff and accurate implementation.
Understanding of accessibility standards or inclusive design methodologies preferred
Hands-on experience with prototyping tools or real-time engines (e.g., Kanzi, Unreal, Unity) preferred
