Overview:

Graphic Design (Heavy Digital, Minimal Print):

Occasionally assist with print design projects, though these will be rare (e.g., designing a print insert).
Qualifications:
Industry Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of graphic design experience, specifically within the beauty industry.
A strong portfolio showcasing digital design work, with a focus on beauty brands and products.
Digital Expertise:
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects), as well as other design tools relevant to digital content creation.
Experience creating GIFs, motion graphics, and other digital animations.
Strong understanding of digital platforms and the specific design requirements for web, social media, and email marketing.
Creative Vision:

The successful candidate will be a creative experimentalist who can design and build custom, non-commercial apparatus compatible with synchrotron scattering and imaging techniques at the Advanced Photon Source.
Candidates with prior experience in developing operando electrochemical cells and/or temperature-controlled experimental platforms are strongly preferred. The appointee will also support related efforts in materials synthesis (e.g., atomic layer deposition) and materials characterization (e.g., atomic force microscopy). Key responsibilities include designing and executing experiments, analyzing and interpreting complex datasets, and disseminating results through presentations at scientific conferences and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Beyond the primary research scope, the appointee will have opportunities to contribute to related projects in geochemistry, materials synthesis, and separation processes.

This is a full-time summer internship lasting from May 11, 2026, until August 28, 2026. The Intern, Bridge Design is responsible for supporting the Bridge Design team in managing the various design facets that result in construction activities. The incumbent will have the opportunity to work with internal and external resources to develop engineering drawings and construction documents. Additional tasks include collaborating on the maintenance of design and drawing archives for bridge project work along CN's network.
Major Responsibilities
* Compile and compare existing box culvert designs, and develop a guideline and standard for Precast Boxes
* Review box culvert designs
* Review layout and arrangements of timber trestle replacements
* Review steel though plate girder span designs and shop drawings
Requirements
* Knowledge of American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) guidelines for railway structures and other North American structural design codes*
* Experience in structural analysis
* Knowledge of design software, preferably Systems, Applications and Products (SAP)*
* Knowledge of Computer Aided Drafting, preferably AutoCAD*
* Verbal and written communication, and analytical skills
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Education
* Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (minimum 3 years completed) with a major in Structural Engineering
* Structural Analysis and Structural Design courses completed
* Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset

POSITION SUMMARY:
Participate in hands-on experience with our associates, specifically our Design Team, on the design process at Mariani Landscape. The intern will be mentored by experienced associates to learn our processes and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Follow company policies, procedures, and work standards.
Assist Design Team with rendering and drafting for client presentations.
Provide support for AutoCAD/Computer estimating systems.
Participate in onsite visits and walkthroughs with the teams to ensure needs are being met for clients.
Support the Project Team (both design side and sales side) with required tasks.
Make reproductions of plans as required.
Assist the Design Team with site surveys.
Consistently evaluate work and determine if further steps are needed to meet internal and external client expectations.
Maintain high standard of quality of all work performed.
Participate in weekly departmental and training meetings.
Arrive for each work day on time and prepared.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture and/or Design
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Attendance in a current landscape related degree program.
Demonstrate some knowledge of landscape terminology, plant materials, or installation techniques.
Demonstrate proficiency with AutoCAD for design solutions.
Demonstrate moderate proficiency in Photoshop and 3D model programs.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work requires intermittent physical activity including standing, reaching and prolonged periods of sitting. Work requires driving a car to various job locations. Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to client needs and deadlines.

Desired skills and expertise
Current student in an accredited bachelor's program or master's degree program in urban design, architecture or related field of study and returning to school in the Fall of 2026.

Strong design capabilities and basic delineation skills as demonstrated in portfolio or work samples.
