Summary: The Physician Assistant assesses, plans, and provides patient care under the supervision of a physician by carrying out a wide range of duties specific to the supervising provider's needs. General Summary of Duties: (Other duties may be assigned.)
Performing comprehensive and problem-focused history and physical exams, interpret and correlate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Interpret and correlate subjective and objective data to formulate a differential diagnosis and establish a working diagnosis. Formulate a treatment plan for Orthopaedic problems within scope of practice. Implement therapeutic intervention for specific conditions when appropriate. Exercise judgment on problems requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising Orthopedic surgeon or other health care professionals.
Order, collect, and perform appropriate laboratory or diagnostic procedures, and studies including but not limited to blood and tissue specimens. Ordering or performing diagnostic studies such as but not limited to EMG, electrocardiogram, compartment pressure measurements, and x-ray examinations including special x-ray examinations CT, MRI, and bone scans etc.
Performing procedures such as but not limited to, digital blocks, regional anesthesia, and minor outpatient surgical procedures such as but not limited to: tendon repair, wound closure, wound management, wound debridement, incision and drainage, needle biopsy, percutaneous pinning of fractures, k-wire removal and hardware removal.
Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including but not limited to joint and bursa aspirations, closed reduction of fractures and dislocations, injections of joints, tendons, trigger points and bursa, as well as brace, cast and splint applications.
Assist in surgery to include but not limited to first assist, deep and superficial tissue closures, application of appliances and any other action delegated by the surgeon. Conduct hospital, rounds, write orders, and take call for the Orthopaedic surgeon. Evaluate and clarify clinical conditions, formulate and implement a treatment or therapeutic plan for hospitalized patients, dictate discharge summaries, histories and physicals.
Order, prescribe, dispense, and administer Medication, orthosis, orthotics, braces and other Orthopaedic devices as may be allowed by state legislation.
Evaluate, screen and council patient on health maintenance and promote utilization of community resources. Design, conduct and/or participate in research studies, manage databases, and perform quality assurance.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required
Education and Training:
Master's degree from an accredited PA program required
NCCPA certification required
Baccalaureate degree required
Current license to practice in the State of Ohio required
Previous surgery experience preferred
ACLS and BLS certification required
Physical Demands and Working Conditions/Requirements:
Work may require moderate to heavy lifting while performing daily job functions
Requires prolonged periods of walking and standing
Must have good computer and telephone communication skills and able to operate misc. office equipment
Hearing and vision abilities within normal range, or corrected, to observe and communicate with patients and staff
Ability to work in fast-paced environment in a professional medical office setting

This is a full-time on-site role for a Medical Doctor / Osteopathic Doctor specializing in Pain Management for our client with opportunities located in our Dayton, Ohio Clinic. The role involves evaluating and treating patients with acute or chronic pain conditions. The Medical Doctor / Osteopathic Doctor will be responsible for developing individualized treatment plans, prescribing medications, performing procedures, and collaborating with other members of the healthcare team.
QUALIFICATIONS
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree
Board certification or eligibility in Pain Management
Ability to evaluate and treat patients with acute or chronic pain conditions
Medication management
Experience in performing procedures such as injections or nerve blocks, nerve ablation, selective nerve root block, intracept, MILD, epidural steroid injections, viscosupplementation for knee pain
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
Experience in a variety of pain management techniques, including non-pharmacologic and behavioral interventions
