The role you'll contribute:
The Associate Professor of Clinicals is considered a senior member of the University faculty and serves as a respected mentor to colleagues and students. Appointment as an Associate Professor signifies demonstrated excellence as an educator, competence as a scholar, and recognition in professional service. Supervises clinical students in the clinical environment, which might include hospitals, clinics, imaging centers, nursing homes or homecare, homeless shelters and doctor's offices. The Associate Professor participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Provide course syllabi for instruction.
Develop, Design and Deliver Instruction in assigned courses.
Participate in Student Advising and Mentoring.
Formulate and administer, as needed, student competencies.
Engage in the academic roles of teaching, service, scholarship and research.

Review and assist with revisions as needed for department policies and procedures.
Identify and recommend to department chair appropriate community agency linkages for student learning experiences.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Master's degree from a regionally-accredited academic institution or have made significant progress toward such a degree. The Master's degree or the graduate coursework must be either in the assigned area of education or in an area that directly contributes to the professional assignment.
At least three years of effective college-level work in the area of academic or professional expertise.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

Summary

The mission of the Center for Epidemiology & Population Health is to conduct rigorous epidemiologic, clinical, and translational research to improve the quality of patient care and health outcomes of individuals and families cared for across the Texas Children's System. A core element of our Center is providing epidemiologic and biostatistical guidance and support for researchers across the Department of Pediatrics and Texas Children's, which requires employing key faculty and staff. The Center is seeking a qualified candidate to be responsible for carrying out biostatistical support to investigators in clinical and basic research and for developing an independent research program related to pediatric and/or maternal health.

In addition, this faculty member will work closely with Center Directors and the Research Resources Office to address any requests for statistical consultations that are submitted by faculty. In their role, they will assist with building and ultimately leading a team of master's prepared analysts that will work with faculty fellows, and other trainees on their clinical research projects. They will also serve as coinvestigator/biostatistician with faculty as they prepare grant submissions, as well as carry out their proposed/funded research projects.

Job Duties

  • Performs statistical analysis and interpretation of data for projects and research grants
  • Develops statistical programs for data manipulation and implementation of standard and advanced statistical methodology
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by faculty including protocol reviews, statistical report generation, manuscript preparation, review of statistical literature, and upgrade of computer programming software
  • Effectively interacts and presents results to investigators
  • Supervises staff statistical analysts to support clinical and basic researchers in the Department/Hospital
  • Contributes to the publication of peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts
  • Contributes to team-science and/or independent grant applications
  • May assist and train users/staff/trainees on computer programs
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned



Minimum Qualifications


Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a closely related field.

Experience Required:

At least three years experience as a biostatistician in a medical and/or health related setting. Working

knowledge of an array of advanced statistical techniques. Experience with grant development and/or

successful grant funding. Evidence of peer-reviewed publications.
