POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Chief Legal Counsel and/or Deputy Chief Legal Counsel and in collaboration with the Ohio Elections Integrity Commission (OEIC) and the Public Integrity Division, the Senior Legal Counsel provides legal, procedural, and administrative support to the Commission and the Office of the Secretary of State. The ideal candidates will preferably have two years of experience to be able to represent the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation and the Industrial Commission of Ohio in common pleas and/or the appellate courts and the Ohio Supreme Court. A candidate applying for this position should be able to manage a high-volume caseload. Typical duties for this position include: case management, settlement evaluations and negotiations, motion practice, discovery (written and depositions), trial and appellate court appearances, and occasionally administrative hearings. Someone skilled in writing appellate briefs and/or oral advocacy is beneficial to this position. This position will work a hybrid in- person/remote schedule.
