We are currently looking for a Nurse Practitioner to oversee the day-to-day activities of Hospice of the Chesapeake's physician practice and monitor all services provided by our Chesapeake Supportive Care medical staff. The Director of Medical Services assures the efficiency and stability of the medical office operation and oversees the business-end of a medical practice. The Director of Medical Services oversees palliative medicine consulting services and is responsible for the ongoing collaborative relationships with our healthcare partners in designing and implementing ongoing community palliative medicine programs.

Status: Full-time
Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience, education and credentialing

Main Responsibilities:

Provide support to the Chief Medical Officer by providing day to day supervision of the CSC medical Staff. This includes answering clinical calls and providing guidance and oversight to staff involved in direct patient care. Assists with hiring, training, supervising and evaluating the medical office staff.
Provides clinical expertise to Chief Medical Officer in effectively overseeing preparations for surveys, administrative review and/or peer reviews, and in maintaining standards and procedures which comply with licensure and accreditation requirements. Assists in implementing corrective action required as a result of survey/review findings.
Responsible for the clinical orientation of the medical staff in tandem with the Education department and provides ongoing clinical mentorship.
Assures all patient visits are scheduled and in compliance with Medicare and insurance regulations.
Continue to provide direct patient care to a minimum of 5 patients per week and /or cover the inpatient care center.
Assists the Chief Medical Officer with establishing best standards of care and monitors on an ongoing basis.

Qualifications

Current Maryland Certified Nurse Practitioner license, and Board certification in hospice and palliative medicine required.
Minimum five years of experience as a nurse practitioner, with a minimum of two years of experience in a hospice or palliative care setting.
Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the mission, vision and philosophy of hospice care.
Current knowledge of management/administration; applicable federal, state, local regulations and statutes governing hospice operations, patient care and adequate professional development to maintain licensure.
Current knowledge of best practices, licensing requirements, regulatory requirements and Medicare/Medicaid participation, coding and billing regulations.
