Research, scholarship, and educational activities derive from faculty member's specific interests related to the field of Behavioral Neurology. All faculty participate in academic endeavors, including the educational conferences, research and scholarly activities of the section and the department. The section and the department assist in developing individual, scholarly projects via access to and the assistance of the department's well-established research support infrastructure (centralized within the department), including 15-20 highly efficient research coordinators.
Administrative responsibilities will include data entry into hospital systems, development of critical pathways, committee work, and projects aimed at improving the section and department functions. It is assumed the bulk of this non-clinical time will be spent working toward the production of scholarship activities. Attendance at meetings and educational events of the department and sections programs is expected.

Research, scholarship, and educational activities derive from faculty member's specific interests related to the field of Behavioral Neurology. All faculty participate in academic endeavors, including the educational conferences, research and scholarly activities of the section and the department. The section and the department assist in developing individual, scholarly projects via access to and the assistance of the department's well-established research support infrastructure (centralized within the department), including 15-20 highly efficient research coordinators.
Administrative responsibilities will include data entry into hospital systems, development of critical pathways, committee work, and projects aimed at improving the section and department functions. The UVa Health System offers many opportunities for collaborative clinical and basic research, an active clinical trials program, and is an NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Expertise in the care of patients with malignant disease with an emphasis on Bone Marrow/Stem Cell transplantation and Cellular Therapies is required. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent clinical research program utilizing the excellent translational research opportunities and resources available at UVa. The successful candidate is expected to be clinically active, attend on inpatient and outpatient services at UVa, and participate in multidisciplinary team care and clinical research within the Cancer Center. Interest in CAR T therapy is preferred. In addition, the successful candidate must actively participate in the teaching of fellows, residents, and medical students.

Job Summary:
The Psychiatry residency program is seeking an academically oriented board-certified experienced Psychiatric Physician to join as core faculty. Faculty positions combine clinical experiences on the teaching, direct care, and consult services with dedicated time for faculty development and pursuit of academic interest. Administrative duties are 10% of the position and include resident interviews, faculty development, meetings, resident mentorship program, academic lectures, and participation in scholarly activity. The other 90% is spent on clinical duties and supervising residents. Responsibilities include inpatient care, outpatient care, and supervision and teaching of medical students and residents. Clinical research opportunities are available.**Essential Functions & Responsibilities**
**Clinical Work**
* Provides diagnostic assessment and treatment.
* Establishes and modifies medical treatment plans; prescribes medication; monitors client's response to treatment including medication side effects and adverse reactions.
* Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of medicine and psychiatry
* Knowledge of current theories of psychiatric practice including substance use disorders, crisis management and developmental disabilities.
* Ability to diagnose and treat mental illness in relation to substance use disorders and physical conditions.
* Ability to deal effectively with children (if certified) and adults with emotional and behavioral disturbances.
* Ability to work within an interdisciplinary treatment team to solve problems within scope of responsibility.

* Residents/Fellows must become Board Certified within one year of hire.
