Generally, associate professors are experts ranking below full professors. An associate professor of education is an education expert and ranks directly below a professor of education. Their responsibility primarily involves carrying out research and teaching duties while also serving in various academic committees.

While teaching and delivering lectures to students in part of the job, an associate professor also supervises and mentors graduate students and teaching assistants. They also holds the duty of training new lecturers and conducting interviews to recruit lecturers, teaching assistants, and even professors. Associate professors of education should have extensive teaching experience, excellent research and presentations skills, good communication skills, excellent work ethic, and a professional attitude.

The education requirements for an associate professor are a Master's degree. Not only that, but they must have commendable performance and an excellent track record in the field of education. The salary of an associate professor of education in the United States is between $63,000 and $87,000, with $72,000 as the average base salary. Often, factors like the standard of school, certifications, and experience may influence the holder's salary. The employer can also add work bonuses and incentives.

Assistant Professor of Psychology, Website

My advice for someone new to the field of academia is to learn time management skills early and learn what type of service work you find interesting and would like to contribute to. From there, learn how to say “no” to opportunities that may not align with your goals as well. I feel a lot of new professors tend to find the need to be involved in everything, which can result in burning out later in their career.
