This is a 10-month appointment.This position is part of ODU's Centennial Faculty Hire initiative within the sea level rise and coastal resilience research focus area and will play an important role in advancing ODU's strategic vision to address global challenges associated with SLR and natural hazards. The faculty member is expected to develop transdisciplinary research, education, and outreach programs that can integrate understanding of relative and global SLR, spatial modeling, and coastal engineering solutions applied to coastal resilience. This position is envisioned to foster connections and synergy across the colleges and departments at ODU that deal with various aspects of coastal resilience in the face of sea level change.The successful candidate will develop research programs producing modeling products and simulated projections of changing sea level on local, regional, national and global scales at decadal time scales, which are relevant for developing effective public policies on coastal adaptation and mitigation as well as coastal conservation and resilience. These modeling products are expected to be robust and of high spatial resolution, enabling their use to identify and address dominant sources of uncertainty while being applied to the U.S. East Coast.
