The University of Washington (UW), Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology is currently recruiting up to two full-time Pediatric Neonatologist on the Faculty Scientist track at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or full Professor without tenure by reason of funding (WOT), commensurate with experience and qualifications. As described in UW's Faculty Code Section 24-34. Faculty on this track generally spend the majority of time in research however, clinical care and teaching are also an expectation.
Anticipated start date is Spring 2025; a specific start date is negotiable.
Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professors $18,618 - $27,927 per month ($223,416 - $335,124 annually), Associate Professors $21,793 - $32,689 per month ($261,516 - $392,268 annually), Professors $24,947 - $37,420 per month ($299,364 - $449,040 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children's University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. This is an exceptional opportunity for a neonatologist who wishes to spend most of their time dedicated to research at the Seattle Children's Research Institute (SCRI) as well as some time devoted to clinical care and education. Seattle Children's Research Institute (SCRI) is one of the largest pediatric research institutions in the U.S., and it is organized into several research centers focusing on various aspects of pediatric health. The main research centers at SCRI include the Center for Clinical and Translational Research (CCTR), the Center for Developmental Biology and Regenerative Medicine (CDBRM), the Center for Global Infectious Disease Research (CGIDR), the Center for Immunity and Immunotherapies (CIIT), the Center for Integrative Brain Research (CIBR), the Center for Pediatric Bioethics and Palliative Care, and the Center for Child Health, Behavior, and Development (CHBD). Each of these centers engages in interdisciplinary research that combines clinical insights with scientific discoveries to improve pediatric health outcomes. Context
The UW is located in the heart of the rapidly growing, diverse, and vibrant Seattle metropolitan region. Responsibilities & Terms
Faculty are expected to be on campus during the academic year to engage in research and scholarly activities, teach courses, mentor students, and provide academic service for our community. The selected candidate will conduct research and participate in scholarly activities that advance the UWLA's focus in climate and social justice and urban ecological design. The candidate will be assigned courses that may include studio, lecture, and seminar courses and include both required and elective courses. Service may include advising students, assisting with student organizations, and serving on UWLA, CBE, and UW administrative and/or project-based committees.
This is a full time 9-month (Sept 16th - June 15th), multi-year appointment with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2025 to allow for orientation in the first year with an expectation that 40% of time is dedicated to research, creative, and scholarly activities, 40% to teaching and 20% to UWLA, CBE, and/or UW service. The teaching expectation for this position is for 4 classes each academic year which are negotiated annually with the Department Chair. The Division of Bioethics & Palliative Care, in the Department of Pediatrics, at the University of Washington and the Treuman Katz Center for Pediatric Bioethics and Palliative Care at Seattle Children's Research Institute are recruiting two full-time Associate Professors (without tenure by reason of funding), or full Professors (without tenure by reason of funding) on the faculty scientist track. Rank will be commensurate with experience, training and achievement.
Associate and full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. Anticipated start date is Fall 2025.
The base salary range for this position will be: Associate Professors MD $14,240 - $21,360 per month ($170,884 - $256,326 annually), Professors MD $18,971 - $28,457 per month ($227,662 - $341,494 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
Responsibilities will include research relevant to pediatric palliative care and/or bioethics (including related topics such as medical decision-making, communication science, health services, psychosocial impacts of serious childhood illness, health disparities) supported by independent extramural funding.
Applicants must have an MD, DO, JD or foreign equivalent degree. A PhD in Bioethics or another relevant discipline (or foreign equivalent), or MD/PhD (or foreign equivalent), is also acceptable.
