JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Department of Entomology at The Pennsylvania State University seeks applications for a full-time, 9-month tenure track Assistant/AssociateProfessor of Public Health Entomology with 70% research, 30% Extension assignment. Candidates with expertise in arthropods affecting humans including such pests as ticks, bedbugs, mosquitoes, and/or arthropods that contribute to allergies/asthma are encouraged to apply. Research focus could include, but is not limited to, pest management, pesticide resistance, population dynamics, behavioral/chemical ecological interactions, interactions of arthropods with pathogens and symbionts, and/or epidemiology.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful applicant will establish a strong externally funded research program, conduct independent high-quality research, publish in leading scholarly journals, and mentor graduate students. Extension responsibilities include interacting with other specialists, county educators, and relevant stakeholder groups (especially urban clientele) around the state, region and nation; and developing a comprehensive extension education program with a variety of outputs. The ability to engage a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students at the Departmental, College, and University levels is an important aspect of this academic appointment.
REQUIREMENTS: An earned Ph.D. in Entomology, Ecology, Epidemiology, Public Health, Microbiology/Parasitology, or related discipline; a record of excellent scholarship commensurate with their career stage as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications; and potential to be successful in securing funding for research on arthropods of human or animal health significance. The successful candidate must have completed all degree requirements by the appointment date.

This position would include a range of subject matters in the disciplines of Business Research/Business Statistics.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Teach in-person undergraduate courses as assigned by the Department Chair, in the disciplines of Business Research/Business Statistics.
* Prepare syllabi according to the University/Department guidelines provided.
* Compile, administer, and grade all homework assignments, projects, papers, and exams needed to promote comprehensive learning of the subject matter(s) presented.
* Present course content, assignments, and other supporting materials relevant to the course on the Learning Management System (LMS) to allow for easy student access.
* Provide multiple graded artifacts (assignments, projects, exams) for the assessment of the course as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Master's degree (or higher) in Business Research/Business Statistics disciplines required.
* Prior teaching experience in a University/College setting preferred.
* Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is primarily performed in a university campus environment and requires a flexible schedule. Occasional travel for conferences of other departmental administrative work is expected. The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions - protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Moderate lifting up to 20 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects; dexterity to write and manipulate computer keyboard and mouse; ability to hear and speak clearly; and body mobility to stoop, kneel, bend and reach.
