Your Opportunity
Stantec's thriving Great Lakes Environmental Services and the Brownfield Revitalization team is looking for an entry level Geologist/Environmental Engineer to join us. Our team is growing, and we have a need for a Geologist/Environmental Engineer with 0 to 3 years of relevant experience in the environmental field and a strong interest in environmental assessment/cleanup, community revitalization, and Brownfield redevelopment. This team member will be primarily focused on due diligence and Brownfield revitalization work in Wisconsin but may assist with other out-of-state opportunities within our regional and/or national Environmental Services team. Strong writing and communication skills are critical, as is an understanding of effective field procedures and protocols related to this work. This position will be based in one of our Wisconsin-based offices (Mequon, Green Bay, or Madison).
Your Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement work plans for soil and groundwater remediation and environmental compliance projects.
- Support the execution of soil, soil vapor, and groundwater investigation projects under the direction of a senior professional geologist.
- Oversee drilling contractors conducting soil boring advancement and well installation activities.
- Complete geological logs and subsequent cross-sections, figure or site plan preparation.
- Conduct groundwater and surface water sampling, monitoring and testing activities.
- Assist with onsite construction observation, contractor coordination, and daily reports.
- Conduct due diligence investigations and reporting
- Summarize soil and groundwater field and laboratory data and assist with interpretations.
- Prepare and review technical reports including compilation of historical information and field generated data.
- Act as liaison between clients, contractors, regulatory officials and third parties on project sites.
- Exhibit a working understanding of health, safety, security, and environment (HSSE) policies and procedures, including client-specific training (as required).

- Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.

Education and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in geology or geosciences.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in geology or geological engineering.
- One to three years of experience in the environmental consulting field
- 40-hour HAZWOPER training completed

SUMMARY
This mid-level position is responsible for performing analytical testing for chemical attributes of raw materials and finished products using defined methods and procedures. This testing is done to show compliance with specifications and to ensure the quality of materials. Test methods are of higher complexity than the methods performed by Quality Control Chemist I and require a broader understanding of analytical chemistry and a variety of instrumentation. This position will also assist in investigating testing/method issues, as well as OOS investigations. Quality Control Chemist IIs will also participate in a wide scope of laboratory projects under the direction of a more experienced chemist or supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Perform testing of raw materials and finished products. This testing will consist of wet chemistry and analytical chemistry techniques.
Set up, adjust, and operate several types of laboratory instrumentation - HPLC, HPLC-MS, GC-FID, GC-MS, ICP, UV-Vis, HPTLC, FTIR, and TOC, among others.
Perform sample preparation procedures using several techniques such as: extraction, sonication, solvent evaporation, dilution, and filtration.
Perform analytical testing according to written SOP's. Testing is performed with precision, accuracy, and completed on time.
Review and write laboratory documents using Microsoft Word and Excel.
Peer review and approval of documentation for compliance with SOPs and written specifications.
Interpret, report, and review test results from contract laboratories.
Maintain neat, accurate, and complete records such that they are defendable through an audit.
Perform calibration, verification, and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Report final test results in the computerized Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Operate several types of computerized data handling systems.
Initiate and lead OOS investigation when test results do not comply with specifications.
Effectively communicate with multiple departments within the organization.
Consult with other laboratory staff when issues with test methods arise.
Revise existing SOPs when needed.
Troubleshoot and solve problems encountered with methods and instrumentation.
Assist in method transfers and method validation.
Perform annual instrument qualifications.
Contribute to projects under the direction of a more experienced chemist or supervisor.
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
Show ability to train new chemists.

What you'll be doing.
Front-End Innovation & Platform Development
* Contribute to the identification and development of innovation opportunities grounded in consumer, culinary, and technology insights, in partnership with Sensory UX, Insights, Commercial, and Marketing.
* Support the development and evolution of product platforms that can scale across regions and customers.
* Partner with Advanced Technology and Innovation (ATI) to evaluate and apply existing and emerging technologies.
* Translate insights and concepts into technically sound product designs with clear development and feasibility pathways.
* Demonstrate a working understanding of market trends, emerging technologies, and the competitive landscape to inform product and project decisions.
Technical & Scientific Leadership
* Lead technical execution of product development projects from formulation through commercialization.
* Apply strong knowledge of ingredient functionality, formulation principles, and processing to solve development challenges.
* Design and execute development and validation work, including DOE, pilot trials, scale-up activities, and commercialization readiness.
* Partner with internal teams (ATI, Engineering, Quality, Procurement) and external suppliers to deliver products that meet key performance, cost, and quality targets.
* Serve as a technical contributor or subject matter expert in assigned technology or product areas.
* Maintain high standards of project documentation, including technical plans, risk assessments, trial summaries, and feasibility reviews.
* Stay current with advancements in food science and ingredient technology through journals, supplier engagement, and professional networks.
Project & Portfolio Execution
* Serve as the Product Development technical lead on innovation projects, representing R&D and other Technical functions across cross-functional teams.
* Own technical deliverables, timelines, and risk mitigation plans within assigned projects.
* Proactively identify technical risks and work with the team to develop practical mitigation strategies.
* Ensure alignment between technical execution, project objectives, and business priorities.
Collaboration, Influence & Capability Building
* Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to cross-functional and regional stakeholders.
* Support and mentor junior scientists and team members through knowledge sharing and on-the-job coaching.
* Collaborate with Culinary and customers to co-create and adapt recipes to meet menu needs and "back-of-house" requirements.
* Lead raw material sourcing, evaluation, improvement, and approval activities in partnership with Procurement.
* Support Commercial and Marketing with technical input for customer presentations and innovation discussions.
* Provide technical support to Manufacturing, Q&FS, Engineering, and Technical Operations to resolve product or process issues.
* Share learnings on trends, ingredients, and new product introductions with the broader Product Development team.
What you'll need to be successful.
Education and Experience
* BS or MS degree in Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
* Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in product development, preferably within food, CPG, or manufacturing environments.

SUMMARY
This mid-level position is responsible for performing analytical testing for chemical attributes of raw materials and finished products using defined methods and procedures. This testing is done to show compliance with specifications and to ensure the quality of materials. Test methods are of higher complexity than the methods performed by Quality Control Chemist I and require a broader understanding of analytical chemistry and a variety of instrumentation. This position will also assist in investigating testing/method issues, as well as OOS investigations. Quality Control Chemist IIs will also participate in a wide scope of laboratory projects under the direction of a more experienced chemist or supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Perform testing of raw materials and finished products. This testing will consist of wet chemistry and analytical chemistry techniques.
* Set up, adjust, and operate several types of laboratory instrumentation - HPLC, HPLC-MS, GC-FID, GC-MS, ICP, UV-Vis, HPTLC, FTIR, and TOC, among others.
* Perform sample preparation procedures using several techniques such as: extraction, sonication, solvent evaporation, dilution, and filtration.
* Perform analytical testing according to written SOP's. Testing is performed with precision, accuracy, and completed on time.
* Review and write laboratory documents using Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Peer review and approval of documentation for compliance with SOPs and written specifications.
* Interpret, report, and review test results from contract laboratories.
* Maintain neat, accurate, and complete records such that they are defendable through an audit.
* Perform calibration, verification, and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
* Report final test results in the computerized Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
* Operate several types of computerized data handling systems.
* Initiate and lead OOS investigation when test results do not comply with specifications.
* Effectively communicate with multiple departments within the organization.
* Consult with other laboratory staff when issues with test methods arise.
* Revise existing SOPs when needed.
* Troubleshoot and solve problems encountered with methods and instrumentation.
* Assist in method transfers and method validation.
* Perform annual instrument qualifications.
* Contribute to projects under the direction of a more experienced chemist or supervisor.
* Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
* Show ability to train new chemists.
* Perform other laboratory-related duties or tests as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
