Apex Space
Associate software engineer job in Los Angeles, CA
Spacecraft represent the most pressing unmet need across the entire aerospace industry. As more launch vehicles come online and the cost to orbit decreases, more companies launching payloads to space continue to emerge.
For the first time in history, this influx of payload companies combined with reduced launch costs has resulted in a massive increase in need for commercial spacecraft platforms, known as satellite buses. These buses hold the payloads of our customers and are flown on launch vehicles.
Apex manufactures these satellite buses at scale using a combination of software, vertical integration, and hardware that is designed for manufacturing. Our spacecraft enable the future of society: ranging from earth observation to communications and more.
We'd love for you to join us on our mission of providing humankind access to the galaxy beyond our planet.
About the Role
As a member of the Flight Software team, you will design, develop, and own the software driving the autonomous operation of Apex's satellite buses. You will be responsible for developing mission critical systems that operate reliably 24/7, ensuring that Apex's spacecraft continue to operate in all scenarios.
In this role, you will work closely with both internal teams and external customers, aligning your solutions with company objectives and user requirements. We are looking for motivated engineers who are eager to solve complex problems with a focus on practicality and scalability, and who thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
* Design, implement and own mission critical software applications for satellite systems.
* Support commissioning of spacecraft during launch and early operations and ensure software systems remain functional during critical operations.
* Own spacecraft software solutions through the full lifecycle from initial design to deployment.
* Perform unit testing, integration testing, and system-level testing of software components, identifying and resolving any defects or issues.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to baseline product requirements and technical roadmaps.
Requirements
* U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data.
* 6+ years of total flight software experience
* Bachelor's degree in CS, EE or equivalent.
* Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, Rust.
* Experience with real time systems running on distributed hardware.
* Knowledge of embedded Linux operating systems, system administration and creating Linux distributions (Yocto).
* Familiarity with satellite systems and protocols, such as CCSDS, and ECSS.
* Experience with software integration, testing, and validation for real-time and distributed systems.
* Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP), secure communication systems, Protobuf and encryption.
Compensation
Salary Range: $185,000 - $215,000 a year
The stated compensation range reflects only the targeted base salary range and excludes additional benefits. If your salary requirements fall outside of the range, we still encourage you to apply.

Associate software engineer job in Los Angeles, CA
At Machina Labs, we're reshaping manufacturing through advanced robotics and machine learning. Our platform uses the largest 6-axis robots on the market to form 2D sheets of metal into complex 3D parts, layer-by-layer. Traditional sheet metal production was designed for scale, not flexibility. It relies on costly dies and tooling that make lower volume projects prohibitively slow and expensive. We're changing that. Whether you're a startup building a few thousand airframes or an automaker prototyping next-generation components, Machina Labs gives you the ability to iterate and manufacture at the speed of software.
With support from the venture arms of Toyota, NVIDIA, and Lockheed Martin, we're accelerating the future of manufacturing, one where factories are flexible, production is on-demand, and innovation is unconstrained.
About the Role
As a Frontend SoftwareEngineer Intern, you'll join our agile engineering team to help build intuitive, visually stunning user interfaces that let users interact with our robotic systems and real-time data. Your work will directly impact how engineers, operators, and customers control, monitor, and visualize advanced manufacturing workflows. This is a hands-on opportunity to apply your creativity in solving complex UI challenges and gain exposure to robotics, data visualization, and cutting-edge software development.
What You'll Do
* Collaborate with engineers and designers to build responsive, performant frontend applications using React and TypeScript.
* Develop and iterate on user-facing tools for visualizing real-time robot and manufacturing data.
* Prototype and implement intuitive UI/UX flows for internal tools and external-facing dashboards.
* Contribute to 3D visualization components for robot status, simulation, and process monitoring (optionally using Three.js or WebGL).
* Work closely with backend engineers to integrate and visualize live production data via APIs.
* Support the design system and help ensure visual and functional consistency across Machina Labs software products.
* Participate in team code reviews, agile ceremonies, and brainstorming sessions to shape product features and technical solutions.
What We're Looking For
* Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
* Expected to complete or have completed final degree within one year of the internship's end.
* Experience with React (or similar framework) and TypeScript through coursework, personal projects, or internships.
* Understanding of core UI/UX principles and frontend development best practices.
* Ability to work with design tools such as Figma and a willingness to iterate rapidly based on team feedback.
* Interest in robotics, manufacturing, or building tools for real hardware systems.
* Strong communication skills and eagerness to work in a multidisciplinary, collaborative environment.
Nice to Have
* Experience integrating or building 3D visualization components in web applications (e.g., using Three.js, WebGL, or similar)
* Familiarity with cloud-based deployment workflows (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
* Familiarity with OpenAPI and/or GraphQL
* Familiarity with machine learning and large datasets processing/visualization
* Experience building tools for hardware, robotics, or data visualization
