Ensuring the security of the staff after hours by properly securing the premises is also part of your responsibilities. Salary range: $23.59 - $30.54 / Hourly Effective June 22, 2025, employees represented by the AFSCME Union will receive a minimum wage of $25. Qualifications + Possess and maintain current certification: Guard Card, Chemical Agent, California driver's license and BLS Certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross). + Ability to clearly and concisely express ideas using appropriate vocabulary and spelling. + Ability to complete continual training classes as required. PRINCIPAL DUTIES • Coordinate regional security duties in Santa Barbara County, Ventura County, San Gabriel & Pomona Valleys, and portions of Riverside, Kern, and San Bernardino County. • Duties include training a wide range of Jewish community groups on security best practices for preventing and reacting to violent situations such as advanced situational awareness, target hardening, suspicious activity reporting, active shooter mitigation, etc. • Work with CSI Director of Training to include scheduling and logistics of training courses and events. • Work with CSI Director of Physical Security & Risk to identify, schedule, and conduct site visits/vulnerability assessments of Jewish institutions throughout geographic expansion catchment area and prepare detailed security assessment reports. • Frequent travel throughout the designated security regions listed above to conduct security trainings and vulnerability assessments. Be a U.S.citizen, or a permanent resident alien who has applied for citizenship and obtains citizenship within three years of application date. •Must be a minimum of 21 years of age by the time of sworn appointment. •Must have good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation which will be conducted as prescribed in the POST Administrative Manual, and must be completed prior to appointment date. •Must be free from any physical, emotional, and mental condition, which might adversely affect the exercise of powers of a police officer. •Must be able to read and write at the levels necessary to perform the job of a police officer as determined by the use of the POST Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery or other job-related tests of reading and writing ability. •Possession of a valid Certificate of Completion of the Basic Police Academy is required at the time of the appointment. •Working knowledge of public safety, including law enforcement methods, traffic control, arrest and safety procedures in a campus environment, existing criminal codes, law, etc. •General knowledge of crime prevention, first aid and CPR. •Ability to quickly learn and apply campus rules and regulations, asses law enforcement or other hazardous situations, determine an appropriate course of action, prepare clear and concise procedural reports, maintain cooperative and working relationships with the campus community general public, and local and state police agencies. Environmental/Physical/Special Physical Requirements: •Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to complete all the physical requirements of active duty as a police officer. Work Environment: •Must be able to perform law enforcement duties and emergency related duties in various environments (indoor, outdoor, inclement weather, and other adverse conditions, etc.). •Requires ability to work various rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. •May be required to work on short notice. •May be required to travel, including during the evenings/nights and weekends. •Personal protective equipment required: police uniforms (as described in the University Police General Orders Manual) and duty belt with weapons. •Must be able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students,faculty and staff.
