ABOUT THE POSITION The Machine Operator will be responsible for performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on assigned machines. The Machine Operator will also be responsible for inspecting parts to specifications and making adjustments, or tool changes as necessary to maintain quality specifications. Key Deliverables · Set up and operate a production machine in accordance with Astec's guidelines. · Control and adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately. · Perform pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation. · Accurately perform task based on blueprints provided. · Maintain a detailed activity log of daily duties. Key Activities & Responsibilities · Knowledgeable in basic machine safety to include proper lifting techniques. · Basic blueprint reading and math skills (basic geometry to figure angles) and decimals and metric conversions. · Knowledgeable and able to use tape measure, combination square, levels and radius boards, etc. · Able to safely use hand tools to include hammer, adjustable wrench, air grinder, pencil grinder, and air wrenches. · Closely monitor machine while in operation, never leaving immediate work area while machine is in operation and be ready to respond to breakdowns quickly in order to shut down machine. · Be able to read cut lists (basic reading skills and knowledge of materials - types of steel Able to safely operate cranes and forklifts. · Be able to do some layout work. · Review operator manual(s) for saw, drill, and mill for safe and appropriate operation (to include preventive maintenance). · Communicate with other machine operators and team members to guarantee safety on the floor. · Keep work area neat and clean. · Must follow all Astec, Inc. safety rules and requirements. · Must follow all company policy requirements. Key Deliverables * Review and respond to RFQ/RFP documents with respect to application requirements, equipment sizing/selection, performance guarantees, commercial terms, etc. * Manage sales opportunities involving MS Group products from inquiry to proposal to in-house management to post sale follow-up. * Development of process flow diagrams and equipment layout drawings for aggregate processing plants and development of standard and non-standard equipment quotations. * Advise internal and external customers on the proper selection, application, and operation of MS Group products. * Assist equipment sales, parts sales, marketing, product management, engineering, and service departments with the development of various deliverables as required. We design, build, validate and support some of the worlds largest mining, quarrying and material handling equipment and as a result of our continued growth we are looking to hear from motivated, and talented Electrical Engineers, specifically those with a passion for Controls/Software Engineering. As a part of our team, you will be engaged from day one in real world projects, designing and developing class leading control systems software on a range of mobile and industrial PLC platforms for our range of aggregate crushing, screening and bulk handling equipment as an integral part of our North American team. This position will require creation of control software specifications, software design, validation and software lifecycle management. You will ensure that produced designs are completed to a high standard, on time and with consideration for the end operator interface simplicity and ease of use. The nature of our broad range of equipment offerings means you could be working on Mobile DC-based control systems, AC Industrial control systems, including VFD control, soft start integration etc. or the latest hybrid drive train technology integration, across a broad range of hardware platforms. ABOUT THE POSITION Under general supervision of the NPD Engineering Manager, the NPD Design Engineer is responsible for design efforts from inception through production in new product development. This position will focus on Washing and Classifying equipment such as sand screws, log washers, coarse material washers, sand classifiers, dewatering screens, centrifugal pumps and cyclones. Experience with these products is preferred but not mandatory. The preferred site location is Yankton, SD. Applicants from all Astec locations are encouraged to apply. The Design Engineer position at Astec has four (4) levels dependent on experience and specialty. There are engineers who specialize in new and existing product development/design, product safety, manufacturing set-up, hydraulic and electrical product development/design. Key Activities & Responsibilities * Install and maintain production machines and plant/facility equipment. * Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production. * Conduct scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service. * Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities. * Utilize mechanic skills including, but not limited to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production machines. * Execute regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities. * Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to complete required maintenance and service. * Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test, and adjust as needed. * Perform a variety of plumbing, maintenance, and carpentry functions. * Operate a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties. * Detect faulty operations and defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision. * Achieve quality results and maintain clean and orderly work areas. * Follow company policies, procedures, and safety rules at all times. ABOUT THE POSITION The Machine Operator will be responsible for performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on assigned machines. The Machine Operator will also be responsible for inspecting parts to specifications and making adjustments, or tool changes as necessary to maintain quality specifications. Key Deliverables · Set up and operate a production machine in accordance with Astec's guidelines. · Control and adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately. · Perform pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation. · Accurately perform task based on blueprints provided. · Maintain a detailed activity log of daily duties. Key Activities & Responsibilities · Knowledgeable in basic machine safety to include proper lifting techniques. · Basic blueprint reading and math skills (basic geometry to figure angles) and decimals and metric conversions. · Knowledgeable and able to use tape measure, combination square, levels and radius boards, etc. · Able to safely use hand tools to include hammer, adjustable wrench, air grinder, pencil grinder, and air wrenches. · Closely monitor machine while in operation, never leaving immediate work area while machine is in operation and be ready to respond to breakdowns quickly in order to shut down machine. · Be able to read cut lists (basic reading skills and knowledge of materials - types of steel Able to safely operate cranes and forklifts. · Be able to do some layout work. · Review operator manual(s) for saw, drill, and mill for safe and appropriate operation (to include preventive maintenance). · Communicate with other machine operators and team members to guarantee safety on the floor. · Keep work area neat and clean. · Must follow all Astec, Inc. safety rules and requirements. · Must follow all company policy requirements. To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are: · High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred. · Relevant trade school or college course work desired. · Blueprint reading skills desired. · 0-2 Heavy equipment manufacturing experience desired. · Computer experience desired, particularly the ability to use a mouse, and locate and open/close files. · Ability to follow verbal instruction and learn how to operate machine, training will be provided. · Must have good written and oral communication skills. · Must have good troubleshooting skills, be able to maintain quality, and diagnose cutting problems. What You'll Do: • Read and understand assigned blueprints prior to starting a project. • Participate in process and product development and improvement programs. • Accurately inspect metal prior to welding to ensure clean welds. • Perform grinding operations that comply with Astec's standards. • Ability to perform grinding and be able to pass a required welding skills test. • Necessary to be able to do all grinding tasks. • Must be able to safely weld vertical, flat, and overhead with both MIG and arc techniques. • Must inspect metal prior to welding for smoothness and acceptability and clean welds to presentable state. • Keep work area clean and neat. • Clock in on assigned jobs as appropriate. • Ensure welding machine settings are appropriate for work to be performed. • Must be able to safely use cranes and forklifts. • Must be trained in and know PPE requirements for welding including hood and filter shades and arm/body protection. • Must be able to read and understand weld symbols. • Must maintain welding machines by keeping them clean. • Follow company policies and procedures at all times. • Follow proper safety rules and procedures at all times. • Performs other duties as assigned.
