EDUCATION
Graduate of an AMA approved CT program of study at the associate's or bachelor's degree level.
LICENSURE
State specific; current and unrestricted license or registration to practice as an CT technologist in the state of practice, as applicable. ARRT registration.
EXPERIENCE
One year of current CT technologist experience in the clinical setting.
CREDENTIALS
Current CPR; and other health and screening tests as required by specific facilities and/or regulatory agencies.
ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Various client facility settings; possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Complies with ATC policies/procedures.
Complies with client facility policies/procedures.
Documents accurately and completely services provided.
Maintains confidentiality relative to patient care and facility practices in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
Provides patient care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that considers cultural diversity and age appropriateness so that autonomy, rights, and dignity are preserved.
Communicates information effectively to appropriate personnel.
Maintains competency by participating in continuing education programs and meets state specific requirements.
Sets up and explains procedure to patient.
Operates or administers intravenous contrast injectors/injections.
Evaluates CT Scans to determine if additional scanning is needed.
Perform 3 dimensional reformations of CT scans on computer.
Monitors patient safety and comfort and views images of area being scanned on video display screen to ensure quality of pictures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

The incumbent provides x-ray studies for diagnoses and treatment of patients, such as Computerized Axial Tomographic (CT) scanning of the head or body.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
(Depending on the area of assignment, an incumbent may not be required to perform some of the duties listed below):
Independently performs Computerized Axial Tomographic (CT) scanning of the head and body of patients.
Performs Digital Radiography exams as requested by providers.
Provide proper patient protection following prescribed safety standards related to the radiographic examination.
Secure the confidence and cooperation of the patient during examination procedures.
Assists physicians and radiologists in administering opaque media for all prescribed radiographic examinations.
Complete intravenous cannulation for IV contrast injections.
Monitors injection (power injector) and recognizes injection complications, such as infiltration or contrast reaction.
Monitors vital signs and notifies radiologists of any significant changes.
Assist in performing emergency first aid if required and initiates CPR when a cardiac arrest occurs.
Responsible for delegated areas of authority in the performance of routine and special procedures involving various tomographic examinations.
Schedules patients for examinations, evaluate a request for critical or emergency procedures, and adjust schedules to accommodate higher priority patients.
Independently performs standardized examinations, determines the appropriate thickness of cuts, and recognizes standard protocol necessary to complete the assessment.
Maintains accurate electronic records for all patients, examinations performed and scans taken.
Performs general office work, including various computer-based programs to register and complete examinations and send for interpretation and verify reports.
Responsible for quality control activities which include but are not limited to daily quality assurance, shut down and startup procedures, and proper documentation of activities.
Performs daily required QA tests and records appropriate equipment errors in the log.
Recognizes equipment malfunctions and contacts appropriate CT Service Engineer.
Practices sterile technique and prevents cross-contamination in various examinations.
Maintain patient records, x-rays file folders, check-out files, quality assurance records, current operating policy manuals, and other materials.
Maintain repair and maintenance records of the radiographic unit.
Develops standard protocols for CT and new protocols as new procedures evolve.
Contribute to a team effort.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the Tohono O'odham culture, customs, and traditions.
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of computerized tomography, including spiral CT, to produce high-quality scans.
Knowledge of performing all basic and complex computerized tomography studies.
Knowledge of computerized tomography equipment and supplies.
Knowledge of radiation protection standards, devices, and techniques, to assure that adequate safeguards are maintained.
Ability to recognize when changes of equipment or procedures may increase exposure and adopt prevention methods to such exposure.
Knowledge of physiology and cross-sectional anatomy, including the location, appearance, and function of the various major and minor systems susceptible to radiologic exposure and physical abnormalities associated with most diseases.
Ability to interpret examination requests accurately; recognizes scans that illustrate the lesion and develops them through control, density to optimize their clarity for diagnostic use.
Knowledge of the aspects of fundamental physics, including the concepts of energy, electric power, and types of electrical circuits, construction and use of x-ray tubes, and the properties of x-rays.
Knowledge of computer operations, including Microsoft Office programs, burning CDs, PACS operation, and Electronic Health Record.
Knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques such as using formulae to determine technical factors and use of equipment to reduce density discontinuities.
Knowledge of basic nursing practices related to radiography, such as emergency cardiac arrest procedures and oxygen use, assists with breathing difficulties.
Ability and expertise to operate in a teleradiology environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Registered Radiologic Technologist: Must complete at least two years of formal education in an accredited hospital-based program or a two- or four-year educational program at an academic institution and pass a national certification examination.
Two years of experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist performing Computed Tomography.
Licenses, Certifications, Special Requirements:
Certification in radiography is required.
Certification in computed tomography is preferred.
Upon recommendation for hire, a criminal background and a National FBI fingerprint check are required to determine suitability for employment, including a 39-month driving record.
May require possessing and maintaining a valid driver's license (no DUIs or major traffic citations within the last three years).
If required, must meet the Tohono O'odham Nation tribal employer's insurance requirements to receive a driver's permit to operate program vehicles.
Based on the department's needs, incumbents may be required to demonstrate fluency in both the Tohono O'odham language and English as employment conditions.

We are seeking experienced Certified Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists (DRTs) to provide high-quality imaging services to veterans at the Northport VA Medical Center (79 Middleville Rd, Northport, NY 11768). This role supports the Department of Veterans Affairs and requires strict adherence to professional, regulatory, and facility-specific standards.
Compensation: $70.00/hr plus $5.09 for Health and Wellness
Services cover multiple imaging modalities, including:
General Radiography (X-ray, fluoroscopy)
Computed Tomography (CT)
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR)
This is a full-time, on-site position requiring rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and federal holidays, to support 24/7 imaging coverage.
Primary Responsibilities Responsibilities
Perform diagnostic imaging procedures in accordance with ARRT standards and American College of Radiology (ACR) guidelines.
Provide general radiographic, fluoroscopic, CT, and MR examinations with accuracy and professionalism.
Ensure patient safety, comfort, and adherence to VA medical staff by-laws, policies, and regulations.
Prepare and administer contrast media and medications in compliance with federal and state regulations.
Collaborate with radiologists during specialized procedures such as biopsies, drainages, ablations, and interventional CT.
Maintain accurate imaging records and track reportable CT doses.
Safely operate imaging equipment, including 320-slice and 64-slice CT scanners, portable C-arms, and PACS systems.
Follow all radiation safety, MRI safety, and FDA/MQSA quality assurance requirements.
Participate in initial competency assessments and ongoing credentialing/privileging processes required by the VA.
Support the VA's standards for patient access by providing timely service in accordance with wait-time and consult completion goals.
Minimum Qualifications QualificationsRequired:
Unrestricted license to practice Radiologic Technology in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
ARRT certification in Radiography (R).
Advanced ARRT certification in:
Computed Tomography (CT) for CT technologists
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) for MRI technologists
Minimum 3 years of experience in advanced modalities or documented case experience for specific procedures.
Proficiency in English (read, write, speak, and understand).
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and application in CT and MRI imaging.
Experience performing:
IVPs, GI series, barium studies, modified barium swallow exams
Cardiac CT exams with gating
Interventional CT procedures (biopsies, RFAs, cryo-ablations, etc.)
Bone densitometry/DEXA scans
Familiarity with sterile techniques, IV contrast administration, and patient hydration procedures.
Strong knowledge of PACS, CR/DR systems, and imaging safety standards.

Job Description
Top Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Interviews patients to explain MRI procedures, obtain pertinent exam history (including symptoms, related studies, medical conditions, medications, allergies and surgeries) and to verify the safety requirements have been met for metal objects and implant which may be hazardous to the patient and/or equipment.
Performs studies following protocols requested by the Radiologist and/or Referring Physician.
Gains IV access or performs injections as needed.
Displays competency with RIS and PACS systems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree or certificate in Radiologic Technology from a JRCERT accredited college or technical school. One year related experience and/or training or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
