By self-starter we mean if you see a potential problem issue , you write the problem down, ask questions about issue, and communicate the issue so it gets added to schedule. For example, if you see a cow limping, you get her tag number/description write it in your task log and make sure she gets checked on again. Keeping equipment clean, in good repair and putting it back where it belongs at the end of each shift. Repairing cattle water troughs and fences, minor mechanical repair and welding skills are all a plus. For rare snow weather events, we may ask that you stay at ranch overnight so we can make sure cattle have access to water and feed. Beef Quality Assurance Certification and/or TDA AG Pesticide Certification are a plus and we will provide access to training. A clean driving record is required to drive ranch vehicles. No alcohol allowed. We do have limited opportunities to earn bonuses and possible commissions on commercial cattle sales. Reliable transportation to ranch is required.
