The Assistant Dean is responsible for ensuring that the programs are administered in a manner consistent with the best practices and applicable ABA standards and criteria for graduate and international programs. Finally, all programs must be run in a fiscally responsible manner. Graduate Legal Programs. The Assistant Dean is ultimately responsible for the administration of both the LLM program and the SJD program. These duties include recruiting and admitting students to the LLM programs, with assistance from the office of the Assistant Dean of Admissions (JD). The Assistant Dean will work collaboratively to develop promotional materials and outreach strategies. The Assistant Dean is responsible for on-boarding and orientation students once they have accepted an offer of admission and will serve as an academic advisor to all LLM and exchange students, including advising on course selection, academic standards, degree requirements, and general bar and career pathways. The Assistant Dean is also responsible for supervising the admissions process for prospective SJD students, and for scheduling the review of SJD applications by the Graduate Programs Committee. At present, there are 31 international programs: 26 exchange programs, 4 summer abroad programs, and the biennial University of Zurich/Europa Institute visit. In addition, the position is broadly responsible for processing applications from visiting scholars, and for handling administrative matters for scholars who have been invited by faculty members. The Assistant Dean reviews all applications from incoming exchange students, and all applications for outgoing exchange students. The Assistant Dean is responsible for approving the course selection of both incoming and outgoing exchange students and acts as an academic advisor for all exchange students. Communication * Communicates professionally with parent/guardians and the community. * Communicates student progress with parent/guardians regularly. * Communicates regularly with school leadership and other faculty to maximize effective instructional activities. Professionalism * Models the Athlos culture. * Implements school policies. * Tracks student attendance, behavioral issues, and classroom events. * Participates in regular school-wide and individual professional development including professional learning communities. * Pursues ambitious professional development goals and student learning targets. * Actively participates in critical school events, including staff meetings, open houses, parent teacher conferences and more. * Gives and receives positive and constructive feedback from colleagues. * Honors schedules and deadlines. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge and Skills * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Classroom and video platforms such as: Zoom or Teams. * Strong facilitation skills with the ability to engage the entire classroom. * Ability to work independently and in a team environment. * Experience working in diverse communities and a deep appreciation for diverse perspectives. * Demonstrated integrity and high standards in managing information in a confidential and professional manner.
