A food editor oversees the creation and production of all food content. A food editor would be expected to stay informed about current topics in food, work with writers on his/her team to develop an angle for the story and the various ways to tell the story for print, web and on social media (think Instagram stories, for example). The food editor would also edit those stories and any recipes that are included. A dining editor, on the other hand, would be responsible for planning and creating dining-related content. That job would entail keeping up with the restaurant scene in the coverage area and restaurant reviews fall under that job as well (many dining editors of newspapers/magazines also serve as its dining critic). In my job, I am food editor and dining editor, food/dining writer/reporter, plus serve as one of our three AJC dining critics.
