Responsible for stocking and ordering of equipment and supplies and maintaining a 24 hour ready status in all units. Responsible for cleaning, maintenance and stocking of unit equipment and supply in procedure carts. #LI-CU1 Overview The Trauma /Surgical ICU (TSICU) is a 28-bed critical care unit specializing in the care of trauma tically injured patients or those patients undergoing complex surgeries requiring close monitoring and care. Patients are admitted directly from the ED, the Ross Trauma Admitting Area, or the operating room. Patients usually cared for in this area include those with trauma tic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, rib fractures and lung injuries, as well as diverse orthopedic injuries requiring frequent monitoring and care. Many patients cared for the in the TSICU are poly- trauma , with injuries involving more than one body system. Common surgical patients include those undergoing Whipple procedures, esophagectomies, gastrostomies, and abdominal aortic aneurysms. The unit is staffed with registered nurses, critical care technicians, trauma surgery nurse practitioners, resident physicians and attending trauma surgeons. Staff also work closely with respiratory therapy and specialized surgical groups such as orthopedics and neurosurgery. Nurses and critical care technicians working in this area receive education specific to the care of the trauma patient. #LI-CU1 Experience Required EMT Field and pre-hospital experience. EKG, Phlebotomy, ACCU-Check. Education Requirements High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Our leadership structure, comprised of a clinical director, an assistant clinical director, clinical nurse managers, and a clinical educator, is dedicated to supporting our staff and patient safety. Pavilion-8 is supported by our unit secretaries, critical care technicians, and registered nurses seven days a week. We work towards having all of our nurses' cross-trained in surgical intermediate within the first year at Cooper. Pavilion-8 fosters a close relationship with our providers, as our APN's and Surgical Residents are easily accessible for support, questions, and directions with patient care. The North side houses 37 patients, and the South side houses 36 patients. There are two negative pressure rooms with an anti-room. There is a pharmacist present on the unit to assist the RNs with medication questions/concerns. Multidisciplinary rounds occur every Monday through Friday. Rounds involve all aspects of the healthcare team, including the patient and family. Experience Required 0-2 years' experience required. Education Requirements High School/GED required. Our staff care for a variety of patient populations, including cardiac, trauma, gastrointestinal, and psych. To support our staff are Clinical Nurse Managers (CNMs) which help with patient care, through put, and assignments. Nurses who are staffed on Kelemen 9 are required to have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications, which will allow competent and safe care for our complex patient populations. Experience Required 0-2 years' experience required. Education Requirements High School/GED required. Overview Kelemen 10 is a medical-surgical unit that cares for patients who have various needs and disease processes. Both North and South 10 have Telemetry capabilities for our patients. Each unit, North/South houses 36 patients and 2 hallway areas totaling a maximum of 76 patients. South 10 has a 12-bed Intermediate Care Unit embedded within the 36-bed unit. The capacity of INCU is not usually more than 12 patients. INCU has critically care-trained RNs who support the patient's needs and care for ventilated patients. South 10 also has 2 negative pressure isolation rooms with an anti-room that is used when needed for specific isolation needs. We do multidisciplinary rounds Monday - Friday. This involves the patient in their care and allows the team members to collaborate with the patient to give them the best possible care and appropriate discharge to home or other facilities. We have a pharmacist who has an office on the unit to assist the RNs when needed to help avoid delay of care to any patient. Experience Required 0-2 years' experience required. Overview Kelemen 10 is a medical-surgical unit that cares for patients who have various needs and disease processes. Both North and South 10 have Telemetry capabilities for our patients. Each unit, North/South houses 36 patients and 2 hallway areas totaling a maximum of 76 patients. South 10 has a 12-bed Intermediate Care Unit embedded within the 36-bed unit. The capacity of INCU is not usually more than 12 patients. INCU has critically care-trained RNs who support the patient's needs and care for ventilated patients. South 10 also has 2 negative pressure isolation rooms with an anti-room that is used when needed for specific isolation needs. We do multidisciplinary rounds Monday - Friday. This involves the patient in their care and allows the team members to collaborate with the patient to give them the best possible care and appropriate discharge to home or other facilities. We have a pharmacist who has an office on the unit to assist the RNs when needed to help avoid delay of care to any patient. Experience Required 0-2 years' experience required. Education Requirements High School/GED required. The Emergency Medical Technician provides BLS service, including rescue, triage, transfer and transport of emergency and non-emergency patients. This includes assessing the needs of patients using accepted national and state standards for the EMT-B and setting priorities of care rapidly and accurately under all conditions including extremes in climate and in varied environments. The Emergency Medical Technician provides clear and properly executed documentation of assessment, patient information and medical interventions. This position is responsible for completion of all documentation on a daily basis. This may include filing, data retrieval and phone calls. The EMT communicates effectively with customers to explain procedures, answer routine questions, establish rapport, etc. This position acts in a professional manner and maintains an effective working relationship with members of other EMS agencies, hospital and long term facility personnel, patients and families, law enforcement and fire department personnel, etc. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation. QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: High School graduate or equivalent required. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current National Registry and/or New Jersey Emergency Medical Technician - Basic Certification required. (Current EMT-Basic certification from NY, PA, DE, DC, MD, VA and WVA is also acceptable). Current BLSHCP (professional rescuer or health care provider level) required. Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator Certificate (CEVO) required within 90 days from date of hire or transfer. Proof of Valid New Jersey Driver's License required. Proof of completing National Incident Command Courses ICS 100 and IS 700 required. EXPERIENCE: Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS: Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Potential for Psychological and physical stress. Work involves exposure to various climate extremes and weather conditions and exposure to disagreeable odors and body wastes. Must be able to lift and carry heavy equipment up to 50 lbs and lifting patients up to 200lbs with assistance. Must maintain physical fitness necessary to move rapidly when required in emergencies.
