Atlas Spring Mfg company history timeline

1997

Following a campus-wide academic strategic planning process that involved administrators, faculty and students from every school and college, as well as internal and external advisory boards, ATLAS is formed in 1997.

1999

In 1999, Atlas merged with Vermont based competitor Tubbs Snowshoes to form WinterQuest, LLC. Klebahn continued with the company through the merge as a consultant and left shortly afterwards to go on to work with Patagonia and Timbuk2.

2002

Demolition begins in December 2002.

2004

Sanders becomes chief executive officer of NCWIT and an executive-in-residence for ATLAS. The National Science Foundation awards NCWIT $3.25 million in 2004.

2006

The CU Board of Regents approves the degree in October 2006.

The program becomes a center in 2006, when it is renamed the Center for Media, Arts and Performance.

2007

In 2007 the Atlas offices moved from the San Francisco Bay Area up to K2 in Seattle, Wash.

2008

Jill Van Matre Dupre, who has been the associate director of ATLAS since 2008, becomes the acting director of the ATLAS Institute in July.

2009

Michelle Ellsworth, professor and associate chair of dance, becomes the interim director of the ATLAS Center for Media, Arts and Performance (CMAP), taking the place of Michael Theodore, who had directed CMAP since 2009.

2010

Ten women from the ATLAS Technology, Arts and Media program, the new Master of Science in Information and Communication Technology for Development, and the PhD program in Technology, Media and Society attend the 2010 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women and Computing.
