Tom McPhillips is the founder of Atomic Design, based in Lititz Pennsylvania. He is best known for his work designing for music television and as the production designer of many major concert tours.

His resume includes such iconic work as the “Bad” and the “Dangerous” tours for Michael Jackson, many tours for Diana Ross, as well as work for The Who, Judas Priest, Eric Clapton, Robert Plant, Mariah Carey, Ricky Martin, Michael Buble and Martina McBride to name but a very few. With the recent growth in outdoor festivals Tom has also expanded into designing and building for many US festivals including Electric Forest, MiddleLands and Firefly.

Television credits include most of the many MTV Unpluggeds, Live by Request for A&E, many award shows including the MTV Video Music Awards, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Soul Train Awards, as well as comedy specials and late night chat shows.

He has also designed environments for exhibits and corporate events. His clients have included Turner, CBS, Sony, The Nutural History Museum and many other companies and institutions. As well as show and environment design, Tom and his design team also originate the wide range modular of decor and scenic products that are carried by Atomic Rental.

Tom has also worked extensively in Japan where he has designed many shows for artists such as Misia, Glay, and Exile Atsushi. He was the designer of the inaugural MTV Japan VMA’s and has designed the SummerSonic Festival in Tokyo every year since 2009.

Atomic, the company Tom created in 1994, has grown exponentially and now is a major supplier of design, set construction and production for live entertainment, corporate events and retail experiences. In addition Atomic Rental is now an international supplier with offices in Lititz, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Tokyo and Frankfurt.
