This research-focused role involves professional and technical work in the production of bioproducts, chemicals, and biofuels from woody biomass, primarily using an electrochemical platform or a thermochemical-electrochemical hybrid process. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting the Principal Investigator (PI) in research activities.
- Assisting in writing proposals for extramural funding.
- Supervising the bioenergy group including mentoring student researchers (graduate and undergraduate).
- Summarizing data and publishing research findings.
- Preparing technical reports, manuscripts for publication, and various presentations.
- Performing other related duties as assigned by the PI.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Biosystems Engineering, Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Organic Chemistry, or a closely related field by the expected start date.
- Research experience in the electrochemical conversion of organic compounds to high-value products.
- Demonstrated experience and/or ability to conduct research in bioproducts and bioenergy.
- Documented evidence of individual and/or collaborative research resulting in peer-reviewed publications.

- Additional technical experience in the production of bioproducts and chemicals from lignin and sugars, and the production of chemicals, fuels, and other high-value materials from bio-oil.

- Experience with chemical and biochemical laboratory procedures, and catalyst preparation and characterization.

This specialist based at Auburn University will support (1) collect, curate, and integrate all types of genomics, genetics, and breeding big data in easy-to-use and robust crop-specific databases, and (2) provide scientists/breeders with personalized training for field data collection software, big data management and analysis, and use of database resources, quantify impact of databases on genomics-assisted breeding, and broadly disseminate project activities and outcomes. Additionally, the specialist will work closely with the blueberry breeder at Auburn University to collect and analyze phenotypic, genotypic, and environmental data to build prediction models for key traits of blueberry such as flowering time, yield, and fruit quality.
This position reports to Dr. Sushan Ru at Auburn University. Meanwhile, the PDs of the Washington State University Drs. Dorrie Main and Sook Jung and will closely work together with their cohort of other crop curators and outreach specialists. This position requires frequent travel including driving.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
+ Collect and curate genomic, genetic, and breeding data and upload to the Genome Database for Vaccinium and Genome Database for Rosaceae
+ Help create outreach and training materials for specialty crop breeders and researchers
+ Provide webinars and on-site training on how to use the Genome Database for Vaccinium and the Breeding Information Management System (BIMS )
+ Manage mass communication to database users including newsletters and social media
+ Help organize and participate in workshops at conferences
+ Participate in preparation of scholarly publications
**Minimum Qualifications**
The minimum qualification is an earned Ph.D. in Plant Breeding, Quantitative Genetics, or closely related field at the time employment begins. The Program: The Fish Ecology Group at the Ireland Center in Auburn University's School of Fisheries, Aquaculture & Aquatic Sciences is currently involved in research investigating the ecology and management of aquatic organisms in a variety of systems. Recent/ongoing work has included the effects of a peaking hydropower facility on downstream fishes, respirometry and ETS measures of fishes to quantify thermal and DO stress, ecology of coastal fishes in the northern Gulf of Mexico, effects of an introduced planktivore on resident fishes and other aquatic organisms in Alabama reservoirs, adaptations of freshwater fishes to life in estuarine waters, use of lock chambers to pass riverine fishes, management of small impoundments, as well as study of the ongoing study of the effects of lock-and dam structures on riverine fishes. Laboratory and field facilities are outstanding, including expansive pond facilities, large wet labs, controlled environment space, laboratory respirometry capabilities (including both static and swimming respirometry), and recently renovated student office space. Our staff and students work with natural resource agency biologists, travel widely for professional activities, and maintain a team approach to research.
The Postdoctoral Position: We are seeking someone at the postdoctoral level to work with the PIs to provide oversight of the project, helping to coordinate field and lab schedules of graduate students and technicians, and to take the lead on some individual aspects of the project within their particular area of expertise. Ecologists with strong backgrounds in field, laboratory, and/or quantitative approaches (e.g., statistical analyses, behavioral modelling, etc.) are desired. Preparation of manuscripts for publication will be an important aspect of the position, both from this work as well as from the individual's previous work. **Minimum Qualifications**
The minimum qualifications include an earned Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Phycology, Applied Phycology, or similar, or in Biosystems, Agricultural, Ecological, and/or Environmental Engineering or similar with experience in algae culturing and cultivation at the time employment begins. **Job Summary**
This position will be housed at the Auburn University Stormwater Research Facility located in Opelika, Alabama. The Stormwater Research Facility is a 10-acre outdoor research laboratory dedicated to conducting full-scale evaluations to improve practices and products used to manage stormwater runoff. Provides direct technical support to researchers by maintaining, scheduling, and operating facilities and equipment; collecting and/or providing technical expertise on specimens/samples; and gathering/reporting data.
Temporary Employment Services (TES ), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university.TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. **Essential Functions**
+ Maintains supplies, equipment and facilities used in conjunction with research activities.
+ Assists researchers with routine experiments.
+ Performs scientific data collections involving routine procedures.
+ Operates field, laboratory, and/or shop equipment used in support of research projects.
+ Cleans and maintains field and/or laboratory equipment.
+ Performs fieldwork by collecting specimens, samples, and gathering data.
+ Trains students and staff in the operation of equipment and technical procedures.
+ Maintains and organizes detailed records of studies conducted for computer data entry and records computer results.
This position requires assistance setting up experiments, collecting data, operating equipment, performing manual labor, and maintaining facility grounds. Applicants should be comfortable and able to work outdoors, have knowledge and experience in working with small/medium-sized equipment, and can lift 50 lbs. Construction experience and stormwater inspection experience are desirable.

**Job Summary**
The Alabama Cooperative Fish & Wildlife Research Unit at Auburn University is seeking Mammal Sampling Technicians (8) for a multi-species inventory and conservation project on selected state-owned lands within Alabama. Primary responsibilities will include conducting small mammal live trapping using Sherman traps and deployment/pick up of camera traps and Anabat detectors. Other duties will include data entry, memory card downloading/organization, and maintenance of field equipment and vehicles. Candidates must be prepared and able to work under challenging environmental conditions, which include exposure to elements such as heat, humidity, and the presence of wildlife and insects.

**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Ideal candidates should have miniumum high school diploma and a valid drivers license.
+ Display high motivation, and have experience in conducting field surveys.
+ Proficiency in GPS navigation, and the ability to work in challenging environmental conditions are essential.
+ Candidates should be comfortable carrying light-medium weighed field equipment for extended periods.
+ Candidates with a positive attitude, effective communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are desired.
**Desired Qualifications**
Ideal candidates have previous experience in southeastern small mammal identification, specifically mice, rats, shrews, moles, voles, chipmunks, and squirrels. Also, candidates would have previous experience with small mammal handling and collecting of physical measurements. Furthermore, ideal candidates would have previous experience in deployment and management of Reconyx camera traps and Anabat detectors.
