Core Responsibilities:
Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency, and in accordance with Dealership processes.
Test-drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment.
Diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc.
Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers can be informed of any additional service needed; providing an estimate of time needed for additional repairs.

Position Overview:
The Line Lead, Paint role is a front-line supervisor role, responsible for directly managing and developing a team of hourly associates in an Inspection Center to regularly achieve production targets. This role is not visa eligible.
What you'll be doing:
Manage the movement of cars into and out of the Inspection Center safely for repairs, while meeting or exceeding set production and quality goals.
Meet or exceed inventory production goals on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
Oversee day-to-day activities of assigned team; identify team's strengths and weaknesses; determine areas of opportunity and the appropriate steps to improve.
Engage assigned team, provide appropriate coaching, development and performance management; offer feedback and demonstrate desired skills.
Create a work and team environment that inspires positive communication, team cohesion, and adherence to Carvana's Values.
Proactively communicate information to team members, providing clear understanding of expectations, performance measures, and goals.
Prevent and resolve conflict among team members.

Review and approve identified mechanical and physical defects of incoming inventory.
Lead a team of production associates and partner with the Inspection Center General Manager to repair or reject inventory based on estimated cost of repairs and/or the overall quality of the vehicle.
Train a team of production associates using Quality Control standards to identify and complete repairs effectively and efficiently the first time, minimizing re-checks and delays in production.

Role and Team

About the Role:
We're looking for enthusiastic, energetic, and self-motivated team players with at least 2 years of customer-facing experience to:
Deliver vehicles straight to customers' doors with our custom car haulers (don't worry - a commercial license is not required to drive the hauler and you will receive ample training)
Frequently load/unload vehicles onto the hauler (this part does require getting physical!) and regularly inspect the car-hauler to make sure the vehicle maintains safe to drive
Complete customer paperwork and include thorough notes in our customer tracking system

A Day in the Life: What You'll Be Doing
As a Diesel Technician, you'll be a key part of our Fleet Maintenance team, ensuring our Class 8 fleet is safe and reliable. Our fleet is primarily day cabs and trailers, all under manufacturer warranty-meaning no major engine overhauls or roadside calls.
You'll perform a variety of tasks, with clear pathways for growth:
Routine Maintenance & Repair: Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and component replacements on our fleet.
Diagnostics: Utilize diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot complex electrical, engine, and transmission problems.
System Repairs: Address issues with aftertreatment systems (DEF/emissions), perform regens, and change filters.
Collaborate & Optimize: Work with your team to maintain accurate records, optimize vehicle performance, and minimize downtime.

What We're Looking For
We're searching for skilled professionals with a strong background in diesel technology.
Experience: 1+ years of experience with Heavy-Duty Class 8 trucks and trailers or similar equipment (e.g., agricultural, construction).
Technical Skills:
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for diesel engines, transmissions, and vehicle systems.
Proficiency with diagnostic software and using a laptop for manuals.
Experience with aftertreatment systems and electrical diagnostics.
Comfortable with MIG welding is a plus.
Certifications & Training:

Hourly base pay rate is $16.15 - $24.23/hour. Job Description
What You'll Do:
* Align and park vehicles in proper order as directed.
* Operate all vehicles in a safe manner and in compliance with all applicable company policies and procedures and traffic laws and regulations.
* Observe rules of the road and demonstrate courtesy and defensive driving techniques.
* Drive assigned vehicles through auction lanes on sale days.
* Drive and park vehicles on auction property.
* Provide assistance in movement of inoperable vehicles when directed.
* Provide direct customer service to dealer reps, account representatives, rental agents, etc., as required.
* Comply with all jobs related safety and health procedures.
* Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
* High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline and up to 1 year of experience; or 5 years' experience in a related field.
* Valid driver's license and safe driving record required.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Previous auction experience preferred.
* Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission preferred.
Work conditions:
* Constantly required to enter and exit vehicles.
* Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
* Ability to walk long distances.
* Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear.
* Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb.
* Ability to lift 1-15 pounds.
* Vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
* Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Moderate noise level.
