The Sleepy Brain Lab focuses on novel markers and interventions for neuropsychiatric disorders. It also involves interaction with patients with altered levels of consciousness. This position assists investigators as polysomnographic technician of basic to moderately complex clinical research studies; may be responsible for multiple research studies simultaneously, acting as a liaison with the school, sponsoring agency, community and the study participants; responsible for managing and recording all phases of study protocol as required by sponsoring agency to ensure compliance.
This position is PRN and will not exceed 20 hours per week.Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Sets up, calibrates and monitors recording equipment necessary for PSG, MSLT, NPT and CPAP/BIPAP to ensure artifact free tracings.
Recognizes and records clinical and physiological relevant events.
Detects and corrects equipment malfunctions.
Interprets polysomnogram data.
Interviews patients to obtain sleep history.
Handles phone calls; answers questions for patients and physicians.
Prepares for patients in high-risk situations, as with cardiac or pulmonary problems.
Aids in the training of new trainees.
Supervises and coordinates activities of other outpatients.
Checks inventories and order supplies as needed.
Assists with general maintenance and organization of the lab area.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented EEG Technologist to join our team. This role involves real-time remote monitoring of EEG, EMU, LTM, and sEEG studies (up to 4 concurrent studies), as well as occasional on-site responsibilities such as patient unhooking at the conclusion of EEG studies.
Key Responsibilities
Remotely monitor EEG, EMU, LTM, and sEEG studies in real-time.
Perform routine EEG procedures across various modalities.
Unhook patients at the conclusion of EEG studies as needed.
Accurately recognize and differentiate normal and abnormal EEG patterns across neonatal, pediatric, and adult populations.
Document patient seizure semiology with precision.
Maintain professional communication with patients and medical staff.
Operate and troubleshoot EEG equipment and other major systems (Cadwell, Nihon Kohden, Xltek, etc.).
Work independently with minimal supervision in a remote setting.
Qualifications
· High School diploma (GED) or higher
· A minimum of 1-year experience in the field

Your Day to Day & Essential Functions:
Complies with HIPAA and OSHA rules and regulations.
Conducts pretest consultations with patients in order to gather and record the patient's medical history, adjusting the EEG procedure accordingly.
Prepares the patient for the EEG test.
Properly measures electrode locations per Revised Expanded International 10-20 System.
Places EEG electrodes using paste or collodion technique, as appropriate.
Conducts the EEG test per standard procedures and per laboratory policy.
Monitors patients' progress throughout the test including monitoring heart rate, breathing, etc.
Observes patient during EEG seizure symptoms of any type, including staring spells, myoclonic jerks, facial twitching, eye blinking, automatisms, and convulsions.
Reports patient findings to physician, including notifying physician of any major abnormalities (arrhythmias, interictal epilepiform abnormalities, focal slowing, electrographic seizures, etc.) for which immediate physician review would be advisable.

** Summary:**
The Senior Polysomnographic Tech is responsible for preparing the patient for sleep disorder testing and collection of data pertinent to the interpretation of the test results. This position encompasses all technical aspects and documentation within a PSG and MSLT, diagnostic and therapeutic services and/or patient care and education.

Sets up and prepares patients for Polysomnogram or Multiple Sleep Latency Test in accordance with American Sleep Disorder Association guidelines. Explains procedures, performs routine and sometimes difficult recordings in lab. Recognizes non-routine and/or critical situations and reports appropriately. Practices safety standards as defined by hospital and department policy. Maintains RPSGT and BLS certifications. Maintains OSHA regulations. Recognizes artifacts, respiratory, cardiac, EEG and sleep abnormalities. Initiates emergency procedures, including cardiac and or respiratory arrest, seizures, and psychological emergencies. Scores polysomnograms.

Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited electroneurodiagnositc program or currently enrolled or proof of one (1) year on the job structured EEG training. If employee does not have registration at time of hire, then registration will be required within 2 years of hire. Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, problem-solving and organizational skills required. Healthcare provider BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.

Monitors the patient throughout the night, observing cardiac rhythm and respiration of abnormalities.
Contacts a staff physician when indicated.
Attends the personal needs of the patient throughout the night.
