What You'll Do The Facilities Attendant position works outdoors in public parks managed by Audubon Nature Institute and supports a clean, maintained, and safe park experience. Routine job tasks Include picking up litter, emptying trash cans, addressing hazardous spills, cleaning restrooms, removing graffiti and stickers, leaf blowing walkways, and pressure washing hardscape. The Facilities Attendant will properly use, maintain, and secure equipment such as leaf blowers, pressure washers, and utility vehicles. The position works under the supervision of the Grounds Supervisor and may be assigned work alongside volunteers and Interns. The position will support the great needs of the Park Operations department and will support the general success of the parks as assigned Including proving customer service to all park guests, supporting engagement and education, ensuring the park Is clean and free of trash, and supporting event production and recovery. Day to Day Responsibilities Check all trash cans throughout the park and empty as necessary. Bring full trash bags to the dumpster for disposal. Pick up litter throughout the park including in the lawns, along the pathways, around amenities and in landscaped areas. Follow proper safety procedures when identifying and resolving hazards including bodily fluids and medical sharps. Clean restrooms including picking up trash and emptying trash cans, sweeping and mopping the floors, and cleaning the sinks, counters, and toilets. Remove or cover graffiti and remove stickers on park amenities and hardscape. Leaf blow walkways and amenities. Pressure wash hardscape including routine cleaning and spot treating identified spills. Adhere to safe and proper use of tools, PPE, equipment, and chemicals. Assist in group activities and special projects as needed. The position will encompass a skilled professional that provides technical work in the daily care of specific animals and exhibits. Reporting directly to the Assistant Curator of an assigned area, and under the general supervision of the Curator. Zookeepers perform routine zookeeper duties; work under minimal supervision in a wide range of functions; may supervisor volunteer staff; initiate and participate in training and behavioral enrichment. This position works directly with Siamangs, Golden Lion Tamarins, White-Throated Capuchin, Mandrills, White-faced Saki Monkey and Southern Pudu. This position may cross train with other primate species within the department. What You'll Do The Irrigation Technician position works outdoors In public parks managed by Audubon Nature Institute and Is responsible for the Irrigation systems of the park area in the downtown riverfront parks. About the Freeport-McMoRan Audubon Species Survival Center: The Freeport-McMoRan Audubon Species Survival Center (FMASSC) is one of nine facilities run by the Audubon Nature Institute. It is a unique piece of property that expands approximately 1,000 acres in an area just south of the city of New Orleans. The FMASSC facility is not open to the general public and is dedicated to the population sustainability and conservation of hoofstock and bird species. The goal is to manage herds of hoofstock or flocks of birds in large, naturalistic enclosures, to encourage breeding and the expression of natural behaviors. What You'll Do Reporting directly to the Assistant Curator, this Crane Internship position will focus on our bird collection that mostly involves the endangered whooping crane and Mississippi sandhill crane recovery programs. This is an 8-month long, grant funded position (March- Nov) that offers a hourly compensation and optional onsite housing. The crane programs work closely with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to help reintroduce these species back into their former ranges. In addition to animal care and daily management of the 16-acre crane recovery facility, interns will also get experience with saddle-billed storks and blue-billed curassows. This position is a learning opportunity that encompasses the entire crane rearing process from hatching to release into the wild. About the Freeport-McMoRan Audubon Species Survival Center: The Freeport-McMoRan Audubon Species Survival Center (FMASSC) is one of nine facilities run by the Audubon Nature Institute. It is a unique piece of property that expands approximately 1,000 acres in an area just south of the city of New Orleans. The FMASSC facility is not open to the general public and is dedicated to the population sustainability and conservation of hoofstock and bird species. The goal is to manage herds of hoofstock or flocks of birds in large, naturalistic enclosures, to encourage breeding and the expression of natural behaviors. What You'll Do Reporting directly to the Assistant Curator, this Crane Internship position will focus on our bird collection that mostly involves the endangered whooping crane and Mississippi sandhill crane recovery programs. This is an 8-month long, grant funded position (March- Nov) that offers a hourly compensation and optional onsite housing. The crane programs work closely with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to help reintroduce these species back into their former ranges. In addition to animal care and daily management of the 16-acre crane recovery facility, interns will also get experience with saddle-billed storks and blue-billed curassows. This position is a learning opportunity that encompasses the entire crane rearing process from hatching to release into the wild. About the Freeport-McMoRan Audubon Species Survival Center: The Freeport-McMoRan Audubon Species Survival Center (FMASSC) is one of nine facilities run by the Audubon Nature Institute. It is a unique piece of property that expands approximately 1,000 acres in an area just south of the city of New Orleans. The FMASSC facility is not open to the general public and is dedicated to the population sustainability and conservation of hoofstock and bird species. The goal is to manage herds of hoofstock or flocks of birds in large, naturalistic enclosures, to encourage breeding and the expression of natural behaviors. What You'll Do Reporting directly to the Assistant Curator, this Crane Internship position will focus on our bird collection that mostly involves the endangered whooping crane and Mississippi sandhill crane recovery programs. This is an 8-month long, grant funded position (March- Nov) that offers a hourly compensation and optional onsite housing. The crane programs work closely with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to help reintroduce these species back into their former ranges. In addition to animal care and daily management of the 16-acre crane recovery facility, interns will also get experience with saddle-billed storks and blue-billed curassows. This position is a learning opportunity that encompasses the entire crane rearing process from hatching to release into the wild.
