Augsburg Seminarium opened in September 1869, in Marshall, Wisconsin.

In 1874 they proposed a three-part plan: first, train ministerial candidates; second, prepare future theological students; and third, educate the farmer, worker, and businessman.

During its early years the college and seminary served men only, with women first admitted to the school in 1921.

1933

To further expand its mission, a high school level Augsburg Academy was provided on the campus until it closed in 1933.

1962

A study in 1962 defined the College’s mission as serving the good of society first and the interests of the Lutheran Free Church second.

1997

The James G. Lindell Library opened in September 1997.
