Refers operational problems to Supervisor of Maintenance. * Opens or closes building as necessary. * Inspects building, grounds and equipment for safety. * Coordinates and assigns tasks to regular custodial staff. * Distributes supplies for kitchen, office, teachers and departments. * Perform minor repairs to chairs, desks, chair glides and other school equipment. * Conducts minor ground maintenance including mowing, landscaping, snow removal, painting, raking or similar tasks. * Supervises student workers in performance of general cleaning tasks. * Sets up equipment for sporting events, concerts and other meetings or special events. * Other duties as assigned.

Martin County West Schools is accepting applications for a Custodian located at the Jr/Sr High School and Trimont Elementary. Position Function: Under the direct supervision of the Buildings & Grounds Supervisor, Principal, and Superintendent performs general cleaning and maintenance in school buildings and grounds; maintains equipment in functional condition; and provides cleaning and custodial assistance to students, teachers, visitors and others as necessary. Handle repair work to keep buildings and equipment in good working condition, including but not limited to basic plumbing repairs, vehicle oil changes, trouble-shooting mechanical problems, playground equipment repairs, replacing batteries and ligthbulbs, and more. Perform and log weekly, monthly, and annual safety equipment checks to ensure functionality. Monitors and performs routine preventative maintenance on and trouble-shooting of problems with boiler systems in accordance with licensure. Additional Duties: Assists parents and other visitors to school buildings with special events and programs. Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.
