Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Transportation Planner to support day-to-day planning and execution of packaged truck deliveries. This role focuses on coordinating shipments, optimizing carrier utilization, and ensuring on-time, cost-effective delivery while maintaining a high level of service.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in transportation or logistics operations and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and execute daily truckload shipments for packaged products
Build and optimize loads to ensure efficient carrier utilization
Tender and manage transportation orders in SAP using tiered carrier rankings
Coordinate shipment schedules, delivery dates, and order changes
Monitor unrouted, delayed, or modified orders and resolve issues promptly
Work closely with Sales, Supply Chain, plants, warehouses, and carriers to meet delivery requirements
Manage customer add-ons, broken loads, and schedule changes
Track transportation costs, service levels, and shipment performance
Review, log, and approve carrier invoices
Communicate shipment status, issues, and resolutions to internal and external stakeholders
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business, or a related field OR equivalent work experience
2+ years of experience in transportation planning, logistics, or supply chain operations
(4 years of relevant experience accepted in lieu of a degree)
Experience working with transportation systems (SAP preferred)
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred Skills
SAP logistics or transportation module experience
Truckload or carrier coordination experience
Familiarity with cost tracking, freight invoicing, and service reporting
Proficiency with Excel or similar reporting tools
Work Environment
