    * Augusta University's School of Computer and Cyber Sciences is seeking a dynamic academic leader to serve as the Associate Dean for Research. This position reports directly to the Dean of the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences and is a key member of the academic leadership team. The Associate Dean for Research is responsible for providing visionary leadership in building the Schools research momentum, sustaining and developing current graduate programs in alignment with the institutions mission statement and strategic plan. As a member of the Deans leadership team, the Associate Dean will be acquainted with all aspects of the Schools growth and will represent and advocate all issues of research and graduate education in strategic planning associated with the students, faculty and academic programs. The Associate Dean works closely and collaboratively with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the school, the Dean of the Graduate School, and the research leadership of other colleges at Augusta University. The Associate Dean will be focused on the Schools mission of providing a rich intellectual, academic and research environment for educating students to become leaders in the discovery and dissemination of knowledge and in its application. This position will be at the rank of Professor and tenured. Responsibilities The Associate Dean for Research will report directly to the Dean, work closely with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and partner with the Dean of the Graduate School. The Associate Dean for Research will be responsible for the following: * Actively advise and notify school faculty of opportunities for applying for externally sponsored research and mentor faculty (particularly junior faculty) on grant writing, grant submission process, and managing existing awards * Build and enhance research relationships with existing partners of the School, including Georgia Cyber Center, Savannah River National Lab, other colleges on AU campus, and DOD organizations at Fort Eisenhower, and help create collaboration opportunities for school faculty * Work in conjunction with the Director of the Cyber Institute at the school on new applied research initiatives that will enhance and grow research expenditures at the school * Work with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in supporting existing, new, and emerging graduate programs in the School, and interact with the Graduate School * Participate in working with the other colleges to expand strategically the multi-disciplinary graduate program offerings to other degrees and disciplines * Assist in developing graduate research curricula and courses in consultation with the School faculty * Assist in supporting doctoral students in terms of problem resolution and career development * Support the recruitment of outstanding faculty and provide input to the Appointment, Promotion & Tenure process for Graduate Faculty. * Assist and mentor junior faculty in moving their research programs forward and obtaining extramural funding. * Assist with the recruitment of doctoral students * Participate in speaking engagements to convey the School programs, initiatives, student accomplishments and benefits to the community and state * Identifying opportunities to connect college resources to student needs Required Qualifications An earned doctoral degree in computer science/engineering, information systems, or a related discipline. The candidate will need a minimum of seven to ten years full time experience and bring a substantial personal record in research and education. Professor- this rank requires a doctoral degree in computer science, information systems, cybersecurity, computer engineering or related disciplines. At least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience are required. The candidate must have an active externally-funded research program and a strong record of competitive federal or state research funding. The candidate must have an outstanding record of publications appearing in high quality venues, including journals and conference proceedings, and commensurate with being a recognized research leader in their discipline. The candidate must be highly visible within their research community as indicated by chairing the technical program committees of established conferences and/or by serving on the editorial boards of leading journals. The candidate must have a proven record of mentoring doctoral students and successfully leading them to graduation. The candidate must bring professional maturity and documentation to support the following skills and characteristics: Documented leadership skills. Extensive mentorship experience. Successful experience with the supervision of staff in a complex organization and the successful management of multiple programs in a higher education setting. Job Summary The Grant Program Manager has primary responsibility for managing funds under the care of the Research Section including General Ledger, Sponsored Project, and Foundation funds. This position manages the daily operations of the research team to ensure funds are expended in alignment with departmental expectations for fiscally responsible practices and in compliance with any applicable sponsor and institutional policies. The Grant Program Manager manages labor distribution and effort certification. This position manages pre- and post-award activities for research conducted in Family and Community Medicine to ensure sponsor compliance and effective portfolio management. The Grant Program Manager conducts performance management activities with the research staff. Responsibilities The responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Funds Management Ensure fiscal responsibility and compliance as allowed based on source of funds; maintain up-to-date knowledge of Federal, State, private agency and institutional regulations and policies. Manage spending, tracking and reconciliation of expenditure including: managing procurement and contracting processes; reviewing expenditure; acting as Fiscal Authority as allowed; managing monthly reporting, transaction review; managing funds transfer, troubleshooting and correction of posted expenditure as needed. Analyze and Prepare Budget Forecasts for Section & Projects Communicate financial position and projection with PI/PD/FM managers with an emphasis on funding/project availability for employees, potential gaps in funding or need for additional employees to conduct the work of the Research Section. Labor Distribution/Effort Distribution Manage labor schedules and distribution adjustments for all Research Section employees and any FM employees assigned to any sponsored project. As Departmental Effort Coordinator, lead biannual effort certification process. Maintain and advise PI/PD/DFCM Managers on employee FTE projections, with an emphasis on project management, staffing plans, and effort deficits. Sponsored Projects Management Pre-award: Manage proposal development process to ensure regulatory compliance including: advising faculty and staff on regulatory and policy requirements, potential problem points or barriers, and workflow/timeline; collaborating with internal and external partners, organizations and sponsors. Award acceptance: Manage departmental award acceptance including: managing Just-in-Time or other responses to sponsor to facilitate award issuance; ensuring requirements are met to allow funding setup; advising PI/PD on terms & conditions, regulatory requirements and awarded budget impact. Post-award: Manage sponsored project portfolio to ensure regulatory compliance including: reporting to internal and external PI/PD/sponsors; collaborating and advising PI/PD on forecasting, spending and budgeting to achieve project aims; managing contracts associated with projects to ensure collaborators are appropriately engaged; coordinating award extensions and closeout with PI, SPA, and sponsor.
