American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position caring for adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, stroke, and overdose cases.
Responsibilities
• Work in the ICU of a hospital with a 12-bed unit and average daily census of 8 patients
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with a focus on stroke, cardiac (cardiovert, pacemaker), and overdose cases
• Primary procedures include central line placement, bronchoscopy, and PEG tube care
• Night shifts, 12 hours, every third weekend required
• Floating may be required to MS/Tele, medical, surgical, or intermediate care units within the hospital or to affiliated facilities
• Uses Epic EMR system and experience is required
• Duties include caring for critically ill adult and geriatric patients with a high proportion of stroke and cardiac issues, as well as overdose cases
• Will work holidays as needed during the contract
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• No RTO allowed during the first week of orientation; up to 7 days of RTO permitted per 13 week contract
• Scrub color requirements or dress code not specified
• Must take a 3-month break after 18 months of continuous assignment as a traveler
Requirements
• Active RN license for IL required at the time of consideration (IL is not a compact state)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum of 2 years recent ICU experience required
• Proficient with ventilators, telemetry, IV starts, and medication titration
• Epic charting experience required
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius from the facility
• Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as travelers
• SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• Must be able to pass fit testing; facial hair must allow for proper fit

Local candidates within 50 miles will have adjusted contract terms
Those working locally may complete a maximum of three consecutive 13-week local contracts before a one-year break or transferring outside the 50-mile radius
