Nurses in 4North, our 56-bed Neurology Stroke unit, care for adult neurological patients suffering from stroke, transient ischemic attack, seizures, epilepsy, closed head injury, meningitis, encephalitis, and movements disorders, and other non-surgical conditions requiring neurological nursing observation and expertise.
As a RegisteredNurse IV on 4NW, you will assume the responsibility and accountability for the supervision and application of the nursing process throughout the delivery of patient care.
You are an expert clinician who demonstrates a high standard of knowledge and expertise in a specialty as well as general nursing.
You will consistently demonstrate excellence in all areas of nursing practice including nursing care delivery, staff education, research, and collaboration.

The Electrophysiology Lab, part of the Cardiovascular Intervention Center is a core element of the Smidt Heart Institute, performing more than 8,000 procedures a year. The department serves the populations of neonates to and including geriatrics. In this twelve-laboratory facility, we perform a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for coronary artery disease, heart muscle function, Arrythmias, and heart valve dysfunction.
As a Clinical Nurse III, you will assume responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care. You will work in a fast-paced environment (Electrophysiology Lab). You will also be cross-trained to use your clinical competencies to circulate, monitor, scrub for invasive procedures for a population from neonate to geriatric. This role entails care of Cardiac Electrophysiology patients that undergo such procedures as ablations, pacemaker and ICD insertions, and other Electrophysiology procedures. The position includes prolonged hours in a procedure setting with x-ray exposure. Responsibilities include: On-call coverage for emergency procedures weekends and holidays with an expected 2 hour maximum response/arrival time.
The schedule for this position will be four 10 hour shifts as well as being part of an on-call rotation for weekends and holidays.

ACLS required
CCRN, CVRN, or Electrophysiology specific certification preferred. (Candidates must commit to obtaining a specialty certification within one year of hire to maintain CNIII status)
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of Acute Care Nursing experience required Minimum of 1 year of Critical Care experience strongly recommended Special Procedures/Cardiac Cath Lab/EP experience preferred in diagnostic and therapeutic interventions with all patient populations for CN II or III qualification Minimum 2 years of appropriate Cath Lab/EP experience required for CN III qualification, otherwise will be considered CN II. Meets clinical criteria and protocol for Clinical Nurse III (minimum 3-5 years RN experience) Critical Care or Emergency Department strongly recommended.
Physical Demands:
The physical ability and perceptive acuity to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect patient care functions. These highly trained professionals working in the Float Pool support the organization by having the ability to care for some or all of the specialty patient populations. On this unit, our registerednurses typically have a 1:2 ratio and 1:1 ratio patients that meet the criteria. Each room has a HEPA filter and PAPRS readily available.
Our Emergency Department (ED) has 20 patient beds and sees on average 100 people a day. There are RegisteredNurses, Break RNs, Charge Nurses, Physicians, Physicians Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners on this cohesive multidisciplinary team. Our emergency medicine specialists are dedicated to providing comprehensive, leading-edge emergency care to a diverse population.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Education:

Responsibilities
The Transplant Coordinator Nurse is accountable for the coordination of all aspects of care for the transplant patient population. Assesses and plans in collaboration with the patient, caregiver, and multidisciplinary healthcare team to meet needs across the care continuum. Assesses data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interprets information relative to the patient's age-specific needs. Provides patient and family education on a consistent basis. Provides leadership through activities such as community involvement, committee work, and participation in quality improvement and research. The American Nurses Association (ANA) Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, the United National Organ Standard's (UNOS), and the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) guidelines provide the basis for practice.

Qualifications
Graduate of a baccalaureate Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited nursing program.

Our Units:
The Float Pool is a high level performing department staffed with healthcare professionals who are equipped to work in various areas of the hospital. These highly trained professionals working in the Float Pool support the organization by having the ability to care for some or all of the specialty patient populations. The organization has several specialty units that the float pool supports which include: Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Emergency Department (ED), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Progressive Care Unit (PCU), and four Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units (MS/TELE).
Our Intensive Care Unit is a 12 bed Medical and Respiratory MICU caring for patients with acute medical issues such as sepsis, GI bleeding, post code blue and respiratory issues. On this unit, our registerednurses typically have a 1:2 ratio and 1:1 ratio patients that meet the criteria. Each room has a HEPA filter and PAPRS readily available.
Our Emergency Department (ED) has 20 patient beds and sees on average 100 people a day. There are RegisteredNurses, Break RNs, Charge Nurses, Physicians, Physicians Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners on this cohesive multidisciplinary team. Our emergency medicine specialists are dedicated to providing comprehensive, leading-edge emergency care to a diverse population.

Summary:
SOLAR is a DHS funded Recuperative Care Program serving individuals experiencing homelessness that also have acute medical issues. The RN Care Coordinator will take a leadership role in leading the team of LVNs in the Recuperative Care program and will ensure the quality and adequacy of nursing services provided to members. The RN provides on-site medical management and health education to participants, and liaisons to community and hospital partners within the RNs scope of practice.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Complete medical exam and assessment at intake to SOLAR.
Continue treatment plans from the referring entity.
Provide medical guidance for LVNs in coordinating PCP appointments and/or other medical follow ups upon admission.
Provide care, and treatment plans to individual members (38 Clients).
Monitor, reevaluate and manage medical conditions on a routine basis as needed.
Provide medication management to individuals including but not limited to medication monitoring, patient teaching, and supportive services to increase compliance with medication regimens.
Provide wound care to members as needed and/ train medical team.
Develop and revise policies and procedures for the recuperative care program.
Document and chart all services provided in chart and electronic database with accuracy and in real time.
Promote patients' independence by establishing patient care goals, teaching patients to understand their medical condition, medications, and support self-care skills.
Work in collaboration with the rest of the SOLAR team- case managers, and mental health provider, as appropriate, of any medical and/or medication concerns.
Maintain medication logs and medication storage in compliance with safety standards and industry standards of care.
Provide crisis intervention assistance when needed.
Be able to notify the appropriate community agency in an emergency (i.e., police, paramedics, fire department).
Maintain open communication with direct supervisor, individual and group supervisor(s).
Cooperatively and cohesively work with other parties involved in the member's case.
Participate in staff meetings, nursing meetings, and supervision.
Ensure that medical services are reflective of the agency's treatment model, which emphasizes member choice, harm reduction, trauma-informed care, and psycho-social rehabilitation.
