Adheres to facility work rules, policies and procedures and collective bargaining agreements in the hiring and scheduling of staff.

Informs applicants of job openings and details such as duties and responsibilities, compensation, benefits, schedules, working conditions, and promotion opportunities.
4.
Performs pre-employment drug screening, reference checks, background checks after a job offer has been made and before the candidate begins work in the facility.
5.
Maintains records of applicants not selected for positions.
6.
Provides and documents all in-services.
7.
Educates staff on all required policies and procedures.
8.
Maintains secure personnel records for all employees including attendance documents, requests for time off, discipline and counseling forms.
9.
Reduces unscheduled vacancies by contacting available staff to cover.
10.
Advises the Director of Nursing Services of outstanding issues, potential problems, and labor relations matters.
QUALIFICATIONSSUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS:1.
Bachelors Degree preferred with a valid State-appropriate Nursing license required.
2.
Experience with staff scheduling, emergency staffing, recruiting and hiring, background checks and reference checks required.
3.
Must be able to read, write, and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to perform the tasks required.
4.
As required able to work overtime evenings and/or weekends to meet departmental deadlines.

General Description
Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Services, the Unit Manager has authority, responsibility and accountability for the overall management of residents on a designated unit. The Unit Manager is responsible for directing, coordinating, and supervising the activities of nursing staff engaged in specific nursing practices and is responsible for transmitting each unit's staff concerns to the appropriate department supervisor.
Essential Duties
* Perform various duties to provide quality nursing care to residents to maintain or attain the highest practical level of functioning as illustrated by the following: Plans effective administration of nursing care in cooperation with other health related disciplines on each unit. Evaluates incidents and determines emergency measures to be used. Monitors and directs emergency treatment to residents and staff involved in accidents. If necessary, notifies the attending physicians and appropriate persons. Completes the incident report with causes investigated and corrective actions taken and/or suitable recommendations made to avoid recurrence, for review by Facility Quality Assurance Committee. Updates the Care Plan with new interventions.
* Handles resident or staff grievances and/or refers them to the appropriate department supervisor.
* Conducts resident rounds to monitor and/or supervise nursing care, observe and report on condition of residents, and promote a safe, clean, comfortable environment.
* Establishes and maintains resident care systems per standardized procedure that are consistent throughout the Facility.
* Assists in establishing and maintaining a positive staff and good public relations.
Other Duties
Provides hands on nursing care to residents as needed as a licensed practical nurse or registered nurse, consistent with the state's Nurse Practice Act. Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances. A brief description of RN Supervisor
Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Shift Supervisor/ Relief Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the standards of nursing care and practices within the Facility to meet the physical, psychosocial, and rehabilitation needs of the residents.
* Perform various duties to provide quality nursing care to residents to maintain or attain the highest practical level of functioning and to coordinate total nursing care for the residents.
* Makes daily rounds in areas of nursing care under his/her supervision, visiting each unit to evaluate overall unit performance, and to receive comments relating to the residents needs and problems, and implement necessary changes.
* Verifies the coordination of nursing care with other departments and disciplines within the Facility to best meet resident care objectives.
* Establishes and maintains resident care systems per standardized procedure that are consistent throughout the Facility.
Qualifications
Education/Training: Maintains a current, valid License as a registered professional nurse in good standing. Must have current CPR certification. A.D.A ((Americans with Disabilities Act)(as amended)) REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to bend, stoop, push, pull, and walk and stand for most of the working day. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to provide hands-on care to residents as well as to operate standard office machines such as fax, telephone, etc. Requires normal range of hearing and vision. Must be free from communicable diseases that pose a "direct threat" to the health or safety of others and which cannot be eliminated by a reasonable accommodation. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, and transfer and transport residents. Must be able to carry and transport supplies. Must be able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment physical health examination as a condition of employment. Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation(s).
