AUS company history timeline

1967

In 1967, AUS launched its first business, advising regulated and unregulated Utilities on several financial and strategic disciplines.

55 years ago, in the summer of 1967, Joseph Brennan founded AUS on three Principles of Excellence: personal integrity, superior standards of performance, and loyalty to clients and colleagues.

The name Qantas Airways Limited was adopted in 1967.

1970

In the 1970’s AUS invested heavily in mainframe computers to consolidate financial data from regulated utilities and subsequently became a preeminent consultancy in the energy, water and telecommunications industries.

Britain entered the Common Market, and in the 1970's Japan became Australia's chief trading partner.

1980

In the 1980’s AUS acquired and cultivated a company whose founder was one of the earliest adopters and proponents of computer – assisted telephone survey research and methodologies.

1983

Since 1983, AUS has been invested in the Market Research industry.

1992

Qantas acquired Australian Airlines, Ltd., in 1992, thus becoming the country’s largest airline.

2000

2002

Notably, it began operating an international subsidiary airline, Australian Airlines, in 2002 but closed it four years later.

2004

In 2004 Qantas launched the low-cost carrier Jetstar to compete in the budget market.
