Supervises: None Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Listen to students' concerns regarding social, academic, or personal circumstances. * Assist students in the decision-making process, both educational and personal. * Organizes and maintains all written/computer records for all students, grades 6-12, including special needs records. * Responsible for student scheduling for classes each spring and for students new to the school. * Assists with and interprets groups state testing programs. * Actively seeks to enable students to pursue post-secondary education through information, 4-year planning sessions, newsletters, meetings, and individual conferences. * Provides individual and group financial aid information through meetings, newsletters for parents, and individual conferences. * Responsible for dissemination of career information related to entering the workforce. * Conducts individual, personal counseling. * Follows up with students and parents after grades are distributed. * Organizes all scholarship information, publishes newsletters, and plans and conducts the honors program for seniors. * Refers students to outside agencies when needed. * Welfare referrals are made through the building principal. * Assists the special education teacher in student scheduling and teacher contacts. * Assists with homebound instructions, alternative school scheduling, and other special schedules for students who meet the criteria for these programs. * Maintains strict confidentiality of students. * Serves on liaison committees. * Works closely with the student service personnel in the system. * Other duties assigned by the principal. * Attends professional conferences and seminars.
