KFW Engineers + Surveying, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design, is seeking a Civil AutoCAD Designer to join our team in Austin, Dallas, Corpus Christi and Bryan, Texas!

In this role you will generate design documents working from sketches and/or marked-up drawings provided by Project Managers or Project Engineers.
Responsibilities
• Perform technical work requiring the consistent exercise of discretion and judgment
• Ability to interpret engineer's notes and sketches for incorporation into design documents is necessary
• Develop neat, well-organized drawings meeting established standards
• Manage time and effort towards completing designs on time
• Utilize effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities
• Effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Qualifications
• Must have a technical degree in Design or Engineering or substantial equivalent advanced knowledge obtained through a combination of work experience and intellectual instruction and have the ability to perform the same work as a degreed employee in this role
• Knowledge of drafting skills and methods
• Computer skills and an in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office based programs
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Civil 3D experience required
• Must possess a valid Texas Motor Vehicle Operator's License if operating a motor vehicle for the purpose of completing job duties

CobbFendley is seeking an AutoCAD Civil Engineering Designer in our Houston and Conroe, Texas office.

The successful candidates most important qualifications include:
4 -8 years of progressive utility or transportation civil design experience. Fundamental understanding of civil engineering and utility terminology with respect to preparation of plan and profile drawings for utility systems located within public rights-of-way. Desire to collaborate with professionals and clients to increase your industry knowledge and grow in your career. Commitment to perform responsibilities consistent with industry standards to achieve department and company goals. Interest in developing relationships with clients, partners, professional organizations and to remain a trusted resource in the community.


Essential Functions:
Experience producing construction plan sets independently for various utility relocations / Public Improvement projects. Work with rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from client or Project Manager for use in the development of civil construction drawings. Generate civil plan and profile drawings to include cross-sections, underground utilities, etc. from reference files, survey files and/or record drawings. Create baselines, cross sections, and extract profiles from DTM, TIN, and/or contours. Meet project completion dates and budgets set by Project Lead. Work willingly with clients, other staff, supervisors, and principals. Mentor and provides direction to other design and CAD personnel in the use of tools and preparation of design deliverables. Perform thorough quality control on construction drawings, exhibits, etc. Complete work per Company, Client, and Industry standards. Responsible for back-checking work created by CAD Technicians. Work with minimal supervision and deliver accurate work product that is error free. Adhere to CobbFendley’s safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment. Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity.

Physical Requirements:
Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
Mobility within the office including movement between floors and workstations.
Repeated motions (e.g., typing, reaching, bending, lifting, and carrying).
Communication with other employees and clients.

Environmental Factors:
Most work is performed in a professional office environment. Some trips to client offices and job sites for observations will be required.
Job site observations factors could include: walking and climbing on uneven surfaces, exposure to outdoor environments and extreme weather (heat and freezing temperatures), noise exposure, driving for extended periods of time, exposure to allergens (e.g., pollen, dust, cedar, sumac, poison ivy), exposure to construction and traffic work zones, possible hand and power tool use, and extended periods of Personal Protective Equipment use.
Extended use of electronic devices (e.g., computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters, and telephones).
Use of cutting tools and equipment (e.g., plotting equipment, rotary paper cutter).

Expected hours of work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Occasional local day travel may be required. No overnight travel is anticipated for this position.

Here's the Gist:
This position provides an intermediate to high-level skill set in computer-aided design to create technical drawings of various mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and architectural systems located on our sites. Responsible for the development of lower level technicians by creating a learning environment. Shares in responsibility of assignments of lower level technicians. Has an initiative to act or respond to issues or concerns and communicates best practices or lessons learned. The position requires an individual to work independently on complicated equipment and systems with minimal instruction and direction.

The Day-to-Day:
Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create drawings and plans Collaborate with architects and engineers on projects Determine the proper size and materials for products Add details to architectural plans Ability to perform system walk downs and revise the master drawings. Communicates revisions to site systems as needed.Offsite training to improve systems and CAD knowledge Train less experienced technicians to improve their CAD and team skills Develops CAD management skills for larger scale projects, manages multiple projects simultaneously Establishes improved CAD service Expertise navigating drawing systems for multiple SitesExpertise in creating P&ID's (piping & instrumentation diagrams) and PFD's (process flow diagrams) Develops and Maintains CAD processes Attends annual external CAD or other training Coordinate closely with other construction trades such as electrical, mechanical, and temperature control contractors, as well as Wolfspeed facilities engineers.Follow all company, job site, and OSHA safety policies and practices.Continually improve and develop advanced technical skills to better serve the customer, which may entail seeking out reference manuals and attending educational seminars with the support of Wolfspeed.
