2003 - Steering wheel assets of the Japanese Nippon Steering Industries (NSI), and the remaining 17% of the shares in Livbag, Europe’s leading manufacturer of inflators and initiators for airbags.
The next year, the company bought out Japanese steering wheel manufacturer Nippon Steering Industries, which had been created as a joint venture between its own subsidiary Autoliv-Isumi and Japanese parts maker KIW. In 2003, Autoliv expanded its Malaysian plant to 14,500 square feet.
Autoliv ASP announced an expansion of its Whitley County, Indiana facilities in July 2004.
Autoliv's Utah operations received a boost when a group of ten automakers committed to install head-curtain air bags in half of their models by the model year 2008.
In June 2018, the company spun off its Electronics business into a separate company Veoneer Inc.
