Automation engineer job description

• Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems.
• Coordinates system development to include design, modeling, security, integration and formal testing.
• Manages and documents system configurations.
• Oversees the transition into production process.
• Creates and maintains programmatic and technical documentation to insure efficient planning and execution.
• Responsible for collaborating with business units to understand how automation can improve workflow opportunities for automation within software processes; gathering requirements from clients, customers or end-users to develop the best automation solutions; designing and executing quality assurance tests using scripts that automatically test functionality; integrating systems via direct connections and/or rest application plug-ins; setting technical thresholds, and developing, deploying and maintain scripts so they accomplish their intended function.

• Qualifications Include: Demonstrated experience in automating technical processes to achieve a positive business impact through systems integration and custom scripting in one of the following programming languages (C#, SQL, Java, Python, and/or R).
• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering and 7 years of experience with robotics, statistics, artificial intelligence, or machine learning.

Desired Qualifications: BA/BS (or equivalent experience), 5+ years of experience

Required Certification: DoD8570 IAT II

DESIRED Certification: CTAL-TAE (Certified Tester Advanced Level - Test Automation Engineer).

Automation engineers must possess an ISA Certified Automation Professional (CAP) credential before starting on the ECS3 task order.

Will be required to secure certification after hire.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

+ BS/BA degree or equivalent experience

+ 10+ years of experience in the Quality Assurance and 5+ years of Automation development using Java, Selenium, Selenium Web Driver, Eclipse IDE, Maven, HTML, DOM and similar tools.

+ 5+ years of experience in managing a team size of more than 6 members.

+ "T-Shaped"/Broad skilled software development professional with deep skills in certain areas such as coding, but also skilled in other areas such as project management, testing and/or analysis.

+ experience in Kafka, CI/CD Pipeline Automation

+ Extensive Knowledge of design patterns, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines

+ experience in modifying and writing complex SQL queries

+ Working experience as an Agile lead, and good understanding of SDLC methodologies/guidelines using JIRA

+ Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices

+ Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals

This is a senior level engineer position responsible for the automating and transforming the software engineering/certification process. The engineer will be responsible for delivery of a simplified, standardized and automate the tools certification process/framework that has security/vulnerability assessment scanning, package ingestion/customization baked in to aid agile developer tools releases.
Key Responsibilities:

Serve as a SME and drive global standards, compliance, strategic automation for development tools/frameworks to further the approved architecture while driving value, an cost reductions to the business while adopting new tech roadmaps and technologies. Champions the strategic tool adoption and support Citi's developer community to reach increased maturity levels. Provide conceptual analyses for a variety of broad and complex issues for Automation and new technology tooling to support the engineering process. Design and impact timely delivery of resilient and automated solutions for tools engineering and certification process that meet business requirements and are stable, resilient, operationally supportable and cost effective. Make evaluative judgments based on analyzing information in complicated or unique situations, utilizing multiple sources of information. Negotiate with senior leaders across functions, and with external parties, as required. Collecting and reviewing customers' feedback to enhance user experience.



Skills:


5+ years of experience in configuration management tools (SCCM, Chocolatey, Chef, Ansible, etc.) Experience in scripting or programming languages (Ruby, Perl, Python, Shell, PowerShell, etc.) DevOps knowledge, experience with Bitbucket, Jenkins, Release Management Tools System administration level knowledge in any of the infrastructure towers (Compute/Database/Network etc.) Comfortable with frequent, incremental code, testing and deployment Ability to adapt to a changing and dynamic environment Proficient experience JIRA, Service Now and Confluence Experience with Scrum/Kanban and Agile methodologies Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills Excellent communications, interpersonal and organizational skills Top-notch decision-making and collaborative abilities Experience in proposing, adopting or providing feedback on new processes and technologies
Fundamental understanding of enterprise security practices is a plus RESTful web API implementation and management experience is a plus In-depth knowledge in enabling technologies such as API Gateways is a plus Knowledge of log mining & analytics tools Splunk or Elastic is a plus
