Pays close attention to quality requirements, lean manufacturing processes, safety procedures, and proper documentation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: * Assist in the preparation of processing carbon fiber ribbon for winding operation. * Utilize tow motor and overhead crane to load and unload tube arbors. * Program and operate carbon fiber winding machine. * Prepare tubes for baking process * Remove tubes from arbors and prepare for grinding operation. * Set up, operate, and maintain, centerless grinder. * Operate horizontal band saw to cut material to required length. * Bond, fill, sand, and smooth successive layers of material on tubes to required finish specifications free from wrinkles, air pockets and voids following directions and instructions. * Measure and layout features using jigs, fixtures, and measuring equipment. * Set up and operate manual lathe to machine tubing to required length. * Set up and operate Vertical CNC machining center to machine holes and features on tubes. * Wash and transport tubing after machining operations. * Apply adhesive and similar materials following templates, guides or specific dimensions and sequences. * Route, drill, trim, and sand to blueprint dimensions and tolerances. * Assist in the development of shop aids, procedures, work instructions, and layout of work cell. * Check expiration dates of materials prior to use, prepare proper mixes of resins and catalysts. * May make continuity checks on work in progress and may monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. * Maintain records as required.
