  • Vans, Sales Performance Management Summer (STAR) Intern

    Mercedes-Benz Group 4.4company rating

    Atlanta, GA job

Aufgaben About Us Mercedes-Benz USA is responsible for the sales, marketing and service of all Mercedes-Benz and Maybach products in the United States. In our people, you will find tremendous commitment to our corporate values. Our products and employees reflect this dedication. We are looking for diverse top-notch individuals to join the Mercedes-Benz Team and uphold these hallmarks. Department Overview Sales Performance Management (Commercial Vans) The Sales Performance Management department at Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vans acts as the strategic and operational link between the corporate headquarters (Atlanta/Stuttgart) and the franchised dealer network. Its primary mandate is to translate high-level corporate volume and market share goals into tactical execution at the retail level. Organizational Structure & Leadership The department operates under a regionalized structure led by the Area Manager, Sales Operations. This role serves as the tactical commander, bridging the gap between the Sales Director and the field force. The Area Manager ensures the effective deployment of the monthly sales "playbook" and oversees the performance of the Van Sales Operations Managers (VSOMs). Field Operations (VSOMs) The core of the department's execution capability lies with the VSOMs, who serve as the "boots on the ground" for the brand. Each VSOM is responsible for a portfolio of 20 to 30 specific dealership points, acting as both a business consultant and a compliance auditor. Their role requires a multidisciplinary skillset-often described as the analytical brain of a CFO combined with the logistical mind of a supply chain manager. Job Overview This intern position will assess opportunities for process and technology enhancements-ranging from predictive tools to workflow changes-and deliver a strategic recommendation to senior leadership, including proposed pilot programs for future implementation. Responsibilities: * Wholesale & Logistics (Supply Chain): The department manages the "hard skills" of inventory flow, overseeing the sale of vehicles from the manufacturer to the dealer (Wholesale). This involves managing allocations and ensuring the vehicle supply chain aligns with regional market demand. * Retail Integrity (RDR): The department enforces ethical reporting standards by monitoring Retail Delivery Reporting (RDR). VSOMs are responsible for a weekly submission of the month's forecast. * Strategic Alignment: By balancing the entrepreneurial needs of local dealers with corporate directives, the department ensures that Mercedes-Benz Vans remains not just a manufacturer, but a provider of a premium commercial customer experience. Qualifikationen Qualifications / Education: To qualify for this internship opportunity, you must be a rising junior or rising senior enrolled in a Bachelor's program. Preferred concentration of study: * Business Administration * Business Management * Project Management * Economics * Statistics * Data Analytics Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities * Data Analytics & Visualization: Proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP) is mandatory; experience with Tableau, PowerBI, or SQL is a strong plus. The ability to spot patterns in large datasets is critical. * Business Acumen & Strategy: Understanding of supply chain dynamics and the wholesale/retail relationship. Ability to think strategically about why a business process is failing, not just report that it is. * Communication & Stakeholder Management: Strong interpersonal skills to interact with field staff (VSOMs) and potentially dealer personnel. Must be able to translate complex data into clear, actionable business insights. * Problem-Solving Orientation: A curious mindset that asks "why" repeatedly. We need someone who looks for root causes (e.g., "Why do dealers hate forecasting?") rather than just symptoms. * Self-Starter/Autonomy: Ability to work independently on research phases while knowing when to check in for guidance. Additional Information During this 8.5-week summer internship, you will be required to work onsite 4 days a week at our Sandy Springs, GA headquarters. EEO Statement Mercedes-Benz USA is committed to fostering an inclusive environment that appreciates and leverages the diversity of our team. We provide equal employment opportunity (EEO) to all qualified applicants and employees without regard to race, color, ethnicity, gender, age, national origin, religion, marital status, veteran status, physical or other disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law.
