Mr. Kirton began his career in health care services in 1981 when he identified the need for improved care facilities in his own community and started a health care company. He co-founded Avalon Health Care a successor company in 1989. Avalon is a regional post-acute health care company privately held. It is composed of skilled care facilities, a therapy company, hospice and home health agencies, pharmacies, and other post-acute initiatives www.avalonhci.com.

He is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors and the majority shareholder. He drives the company’s risk analysis and strategic planning. With more than 25 years of experience, he has the vision and expertise to successfully balance the care and corporate responsibilities of this rapidly growing company. He understands the necessity of individualized, community driven care, and is committed to provide the highest standards of care in the industry.

Before working in health care services, Mr. Kirton was President of The Kirton Company, a real estate development company. He was responsible for the development of more than a thousand residential building lots and more than twenty different real-estate developments.

Mr. Kirton has been a member of the Community Services Planning Committee, the Gerontology Center Planning Project, and served on the Utah Governor’s Task Force on Long-Term Care. He has responded to invitations from the China government to improve post-acute care in China, particularly for China’s senior population.
