Summary of Role:
GlobalFoundries Fab 8 is seeking a technician to become part of our Advanced Silicon Photonic (SiPh) Packaging team. The work location will be in the state-of-the-art SiPh optical lab in Malta, NY. This position will include working with a team of SiPh engineers to provide lab support for optical test, dicing, fiber attach (FbA), optical component assembly, and laser attach (LA) assembly to characterize SiPh interconnect performance. The role will also include supporting tool sets for state-of-the art automated platforms, and sophisticated optical characterization instruments.
Being part of the SiPh packaging team will lead to developing laboratory skills and specialization in SiPh characterization, optical test and advanced techniques for getting light in and out of silicon.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
Essential Responsibilities Include:
* Daily support of optical lab activities including optical assembly, test and dicing areas
* Interact with lab team members on defining optical methods needed to achieve expected results, meeting expectations of analyses and interpretation of results
* Work with engineers on first line support of tool issues and setup
* Actively participate in continuous improvement processes, learning and skills development
* Strong team member, able to work well with a global team, train new team members as needed and other duties as assigned

Responsibilities
Packaging technicians are responsible for working in the food production line and to ensure that the best quality standards are being met in the packaging of all eagle brand food products. In addition, the Packaging technician will be responsible for running and maintaining packaging department equipment (conveyors, labelers, scales, palletizers, and other related packaging equipment) performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on assigned machines.
* Perform startup checks at the beginning of each shift.
* Perform machine setup before each shift and perform testing procedures to ensure that machines work optimally during production logging results electronically by hour against set efficiency targets.
* Perform routine time-based tests to ensure machines are producing quality products (i.e., seal, visual, weight, etc.).
* Perform front line preventative maintenance.
* Monitor and perform routine adjustments and calibrations on each machine (packaging machine, scales).
* Monitor all product to be packaged to ensure best quality standards are being met against provided work instructions.
* Oversee efficient and safe operation of all equipment on the line.
* Review appropriate production schedules for the line to ensure correct equipment setups have been made and appropriate packaging material are present for efficient productivity.
* Ensure all materials are properly counted, weighed, and labelled with correct label information.
* Ensure that all partial pallets, bags, containers, are available and accessible as well as having proper documentation such as part number, weights, and expiration dates.
* Ensure that all material and packaging are correct and meet all the customer and Company specifications against provided work instructions.
* Ensure adequate housekeeping in the work area throughout the day to include maintaining and cleaning machine(s) before and after each shift.
* Ensures understanding of MSDS and can follow chemical handling procedures.
* Ensures compliance of Pack 2 equipment, can follow procedure for pulling pull quality samples.
* Can follow evaporated milk hold procedures and understands filler room sanitation procedures.

Your Role at KIK
Are you ready to be at the heart of our production process? As a Packaging Technician, you'll be the driving force behind ensuring our products are expertly packaged and ready for delivery. Your role will be pivotal in maintaining the seamless operation of our machinery, conducting thorough inspections, and swiftly addressing any equipment issues. With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality, you'll help uphold our reputation for excellence. This position has an hourly rate of $19.00 per hour. The hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 7:30 am until 3:40 pm, there is some overtime available on occasion.
What You'll Be Doing
Lifts and carries bundles of corrugated bulk containers filled with plastic bottles, assembles them into box groups, wraps them with twine.
Checks plastic bottles for defects, such as holes, lines in the bottle, or water spots. If bottles aren't defective, pack them into a box.
Watches automated machines so no jam ups happen.
Informs supervisor of any bad bottles or machine malfunctions.
Keeps conveyor belts empty of bottles.
Operates a bagger machine as needed.
Inform proper personnel when more raw materials are needed.
Properly mark boxes or bags with the date and shift they were run on; each shift uses a different color marker.
Assists in department inventory and performs basic record keeping duties.
