Avast company history timeline
Following the fall of Communism after the Velvet Revolution of 1989, Pavel and Eduard break off from the rest of the cooperative, establishing ALWIL as a company.
Pechoucek spent over twenty years as a professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Czech Technical University (CTU) in Prague, during which time he led the Department of Computer Science and founded the Artificial Intelligence Center in 2001.
She joined Terra Firma in 2004 as part of the Legal, Tax and Structuring team, before going on to serve as its General Counsel and then Chief Operating Officer.
In 2009 he moved to the Czech Republic where he, as he puts it, found a “diamond in the rough.”
In 2010 Steckler brought in Avast's first investor, Summit Partners.

In May 2018, Avast is listed on the London Stock Exchange.
In the first half of 2018, the company saw its adjusted EBITDA grow 10.6%, or $221 million.
Michal Pechoucek joined Avast as CTO in September 2019.
In 2019, she was also selected as one of the fifty most inspiring women in the Netherlands by Inspiring Fifty, a non-profit aiming to raise diversity in technology by making female role models in technology more visible.
Trudy was a central member of the executive team who helped take the company private in 2019, working with a group of private equity owned investors.
Lisa Carey is Avast’s Chief Marketing Officer, and joined the company in April, 2020.
In 2020, Avast entered the FTSE 100 index, which tracks the stocks of the largest firms traded on the London Stock Exchange.
Trudy Cooke joined Avast in March 2021 as General Counsel and Company Secretary.
