A Brief Overview
Responsible to perform a variety of general work relating to light construction and repairs on hospital owned grounds and properties including but not limited to, routine house maintenance, minor mechanical repairs, servicing small equipment, removal and/or installation of various light construction products, painting, lawn, shrub and tree care, general cleanup as directed in the hospital and Avera owned facilities as directed.

* Demonstrates ability to perform light carpentry work when needed such as patching dry wall, taping, plaster, caulking, and working on floors, walls and ceilings, repairing broken windows, screens, installing windows, ceiling fans, fixing light switches/plug ins, gutters, garage door openers.
* Demonstrates working knowledge, installation and removal of materials including vinyl, fabric, drywall, ceiling grid, ceiling tile, wood and plastic and VCT.
* Demonstrates ability to properly measure, calculate and convert measurements to material needs to minimize product waste.
* Demonstrates ability to read product instructions, MSDS and other documents.
* Demonstrates ability to use small hand tools and yard care tools and equipment.
* Demonstrates knowledge job safety, OSHA, fire safety, and PPE.
* Demonstrates ability to work overhead and sometimes high off the ground on a ladder or a platform or in tight spaces.
* Demonstrates ability to maintain hospital's exterior grounds, rental property and plant life.
* Demonstrates ability to police campus and rental properties for garbage and safety hazards.
* Demonstrates ability to perform raking, sweeping, mowing, pruning and plant transplanting when necessary.

The facility technician is responsible for providing essential support in maintaining the overall cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the hospital facility. The facility technician is responsible for providing essential support in maintaining the overall cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the hospital facility. This entry-level position involves performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks under the supervision of senior maintenance staff. The Maintenance Worker plays a critical role in ensuring that the facilities environment remains in optimal condition to support patient care and staff operations.
Education: High school education or equivalent. Experience or training in light plumbing, electrical, heating/air conditioning, wall and floor finishing, painting and grounds care are required. Experience or training in hospital facility maintenance and safety are desired.
Experience: Some experience in general maintenance, repair, or a related field required. Experience or training in light plumbing electrical, heating/air conditioning, wall and floor finishing, painting and grounds care preferred. Previous health system experience preferred.
Skills and Responsibilities:
* Conduct routine inspections of the hospital facility to identify and address maintenance issues - malfunctioning equipment, plumbing leaks, electrical problems, or structural damages
* Assist in the repair and maintenance of hospital infrastructure
* Perform minor repairs and troubleshoot equipment and machinery used in the health system
* Assist in set up, re-arrangement of furniture/equipment and supplies following safety guidelines and ergonomic principles
* Respond promptly to maintenance requests
* Adhere to established safety protocols and guidelines
* Collaborate with other maintenance team members to prioritize maintenance projects and tasks
