AS AN AERONAUTICAL ENGINEER YOU WILL:
* Apply state-of-the-art CFD tools to the design and analysis of flight vehicles. Perform basic CAD geometry manipulation, meshing, setting up and running solutions on local and remote Linux-based clusters, and post-processing results into formats suitable for engineering analyses (data sets, plots, images, etc.).
* Have an understanding of a variety of fluid flow phenomena, including compressibility, turbulence, and heat transfer
* Perform analyses related to missile launch vehicle systems, re-entry bodies, and satellites using various modeling and simulation methods and analytical techniques

Basic Qualifications:

In this role, you will lead the design, development, integration, and testing of advanced models and simulations supporting target detection, tracking, guidance, and engagement. General Description

* Work with design during conceptual phase to optimize load paths.
* Work with IPT throughout joint definition phase to optimize structure for weight, cost, and producbility while maintaining required strength and durability. Continue to optimize structure during release of detailed engineering.
* Develop and validate internal loads using classical and finite element (FEM) approaches.
* Provide detailed stress analysis of metal and composite structures by classical hand stress calculations and FEM analysis utilizing software such as NASTRAN/PATRAN.
* Analyze ability of product to withstand stress imposed by conditions such as temperature, loads, motion, and vibration.
* Provide fatigue and damage tolerance analysis as required.
* Validate design for optimal material selection and corrosion prevention.
* Support production by resolving manufacturing issues including disposition of rejection tags.
* Provide fleet support by developing and substantiating repairs.
* Direct preparation of final stress analysis reports to substantiate that the design satisfies all relevant EASA or FAA regulations and customer requirements.
* Assist in preparation of test plans, provide technical support during testing, analyze test results and document conclusions.
* Provide technical leadership and on-the-job training to team of assigned engineers to enhance skill development of junior engineers.
* Coordinate all aspects of team activity to maximize productivity and meet schedule and cost targets.
* Conduct frequent coordination with customer for all stress related issues, typically attending weekly customer meetings. Track status of action items and deliverables to and from customer. Prepare and present stress data for design reviews and other technical meetings with customer.
* Directs work of others and acts as lead.
* Performs other duties as required, such as bid and proposal support.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES
* Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 10+ years of experience in the Aerospace Industry or in a related field.
* Advanced working knowledge of NASTRAN/ANSYS and MS Office products.

POSITION SUMMARY
We are currently seeking a Stress Engineer III. Under the direction of the Engineering manager, supervisor or director, this position will provide stress analysis input to the Engineering Integrated Product Team (IPT) to ensure successful product development from conceptual layout stage through release of detail engineering and documentation. Reviews designs and provides preliminary strength/stress assessments.
Analyzes engineering designs, schematics, and customer specifications to determine stress requirements for a particular product.
Formulates mathematical analysis or finite element model of product.
Analyze ability of product to withstand stress imposed by conditions such as temperature, loads, motion, and vibration using mathematical formulas and computer simulation.
Prepare preliminary stress analysis reports and provide information to supervisor or lead.
Capable of airframe structural analysis for static and fatigue stresses.
Perform structural analysis on conceptual layouts as well as detail components.
Consult with Design Engineer to assess design modifications of product based on results of stress analysis.
Will focus primarily on existing products and processes.
Ability to perform classical hand stress calculations, finite element analysis utilizing finite element software such as NASTRAN or ANSYS.
Participates with other staff to contribute to project completion.
Performs other duties as required.

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 5-9 years of experience in the Aerospace Industry or in a related field.
