Aviation Maintenance Technology Instructor
LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions is seeking a Aviation Maintenance Technology Instructor in Chicago, IL
Position Purpose
Provide instruction in aviation maintenance technology to students according to policy of the Aviation Institute of Maintenance and in compliance with FAA, State and regulatory body requirements
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
• Teach classes on a regularly scheduled basis, as assigned
• Establish and maintain academic and attendance records for student file
• Submit attendance, grades, student evaluation, and all other required documentation and reports per established procedures
• Actively utilize proven student retention techniques approved by the school
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom or lab
• Notify Program Coordinator of any current or potential problems which warrant attention Aviation Maintenance Technology Instructor
• Attend in-service training seminar, as required
• Complete performance based teacher education modules as assigned by Program Coordinator, or as needed based on outcomes of classroom observations, instructor
evaluations, and student completed surveys
• Assist Program Coordinator in maintaining equipment used by the student
• Assist Program Coordinator in development curriculum related course materials and training aids
• Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the Program Coordinator or School Director

Education and/or Experience
• High School Diploma or GED, and prefer Associates Degree in Related Field
• FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate
• Minimum three (3) years hands-on experience in aircraft maintenance (special considerations will be given for more diverse experience)
• Must be able to demonstrate a command of theory and practice, contemporary knowledge, and continuing study in their field
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must have FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate
Physical Demands
Individual will need to sit or stand as needed. Will be required walking primarily on a level surface for periods of time throughout the day. Will be required to bend, kneel, stoop, and
reach in the daily process of class instruction. May require to lift up to 50 lbs.
Work Demands
Office, classroom, and laboratory/shop environment with some exposure to outside elements.

TITLE - Aviation Maintenance Secondary Teacher (Grades 9-12)
QUALIFICATIONS
Valid teacher's license with appropriate endorsement. Teaching endorsement in Aviation Ground School: 774
OR
Preferred Experience: Worked 5 of last 10 years in aviation maintenance field. Examples of qualifying work experience include, but are not limited to aviation maintenance technician, airframe and powerplant mechanic, air crew chief, aircraft maintenance trainer, or avionics technician. Required Industry Certification: FAA Airframe and Powerplant certifications Combinations of education acceptable in lieu of experience Associate's degree in Aviation Maintenance and one year of work experience in endorsement Bachelor's degree in Aviation Maintenance Be enrolled / or willing to enroll in a State Board-approved educator preparation program with a job-embedded clinical practice Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Meets health and physical requirements.


JOB GOAL


BCS seeks an innovative individual to build a new CTE program of study: Aviation Maintenance. Instructor will be responsible for teaching Introduction to Aerospace, in the new approved special program of study: Aviation Maintenance. As the program develops, courses will sequence to Aviation Maintenance I, Aviation Maintenance II, and DE Aviation Maintenance. The instructor is expected to pass on love, passion, and knowledge of aviation maintenance to the next generation of aircraft mechanics in Bedford County.


ACCOUNTABLE TO School Principal


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


Instructs students in subject matter, using various teaching methods, such
as lecture and demonstration and uses audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentation.


Prepares teaching outline for course of study, and assigns lessons and
corrects homework.


Administers tests to evaluate progress, records results, and issues reports
to inform parents of student's progress.


Keeps accurate attendance records.


Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences,
and other teacher training workshops.


Maintains discipline in classroom and assists with monitoring of student
behavior on the entire school campus.


Prepares for class and shows evidence of preparation upon request of
immediate supervisor.


Available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside
the instructional day, when requested to do so.


Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, Board policies, and
administrative regulations.


Develops and maintains a classroom conducive to learning.


Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the time
designated.


Supervises activities such as field trips, group discussions, and dramatic
play acting, to stimulate students' interest in and broaden understanding
of their physical and social environment.


Fosters cooperative social behavior through games and group projects to
assist students in forming satisfying relationships with other students and
adults.


Assists in the administering of diagnostic tests.


Maintains all required student records and files.


Represents the school and community in a positive manner.


Reports to the principal when one knows or reasonably suspects
that a child's health or welfare has been or appears to have been harmed
as a result of abuse or neglect.


Performs other work-related duties as assigned by the Principal.
