The only thing I enjoyed about Avista were the people, at least those that weren't racist. Most management were poor leaders, and most did not have the experience necessary for the position. Gas dept. was run by electrical engineers that did not have the knowledge to be managing a gas dept. Check it out, it's still the same, managers that not only don't know the field work, but are also poor leaders and treat their employees poorly. I could write a book on their failings.
Lack of opportunity for minority employees. Avista works with the racist IBEW in Spokane, I was threatened for doing a good job, and the IBEW and Avista threatened me and also did away with my position, then forced me into something else. I was also reprimanded for no reason, I did not sign it, so HR did it for me. They with held my pay increase that year. When I retired, they were giving a severance package, they made you sign a letter that you would not sue if you didn't get it. They gave it to non-productive office workers, I was retiring and worked in the office, but I was refused the package. There was also the WSU connection which allowed these individuals to not only get one severance but they received two, a package given when the Texans came to town. Those that were WSU alumni received the next one also after beincompanies and corporations in spokane wa quality of systemic racismg rehired, yet I was refused by my manager to be allowed the severance package. Lack of adversity in management through out the company.
I received my retirement, pension, and the 401k was probably my favorite perk.
