Aviva Family and Children’s Services company history timeline

1915

From our modest beginnings in 1915, Aviva has grown exponentially, and now serves more than 9,000 children, youth and families each year.

1919

In 1919, the nursery was incorporated into the Jewish Alliance of Los Angeles, a communal residential facility for low-salaried, employed women.

1928

Having outgrown its previous building, the Hamburger Family financed a new residence in 1928, named Hamburger Home, to memorialize Asher and Hannah Hamburger, early founders of the May Company.

1966

To meet the changing needs of the community, in 1966 the Board of Directors changed the organization’s mission to provide a therapeutic residence and services for adolescent girls with behavioral and emotional problems.
