Sam brings extensive management experience and technical expertise to the AWS Elemental team as Chief Executive Officer. Prior to co-founding Elemental in 2006, Sam designed integrated circuit products for Pixelworks. Before joining Pixelworks, Sam held engineering positions at Silicon Graphics and Intel Corporation. Sam is an avid Ultimate Frisbee player and passionate about protecting Oregon’s environment and strengthening the state’s education system. He has been recognized by the Oregon League of Conservation Voters as a Volunteer of the Year, by 1000 Friends of Oregon as one of “35 Innovators Under 35'' and by the Portland Business Journal as the most admired CEO in technology and one of forty outstanding leaders under forty. Sam is also the recipient of the Tom Holce Award for Individual Achievement from the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network and was named startup CEO of the year award by GeekWire. Sam and his wife Adriane are the proud parents of two boys who love soccer, animals and Little House on the Prairie books. He earned an M.B.A. from University of Oregon, an M.S. in electrical engineering from University of California at Berkeley and a B.S. in electrical engineering from Brown University.

Brian has nearly two decades of experience with complex real-time software development, spanning the entire development cycle from requirements capture through deployment and support. He brings his obsession with video compression, image processing and real-time control systems to his work at Elemental. As director of software engineering at Pixelworks, Brian led development of a next-generation Software Development Kit (SDK) for Image Processor ICs. Prior to Pixelworks, he worked as an engineer and team leader at Rockwell Collins developing navigation, guidance and sensor control software for military transport aircraft. Brian earned a B.S. in aerospace engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona. Left to his own devices Brian would probably think about video compression in his spare time too, but for the sake of balance he goes hiking once in a while.

Over the course of his career, Aslam has lived and worked in India, Japan and the United States. Prior to Ensequence, Aslam was at Intertrust Technologies as vice president of product marketing setting direction and requirements for new video DRM products. He also worked at Sequent prior to its acquisition by IBM in various product management and marketing roles in both Japan and the US. Aslam graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology with a degree in electronics and telecommunications engineering. When he’s not driving product strategy at Elemental, Aslam enjoys times with his wife and two daughters and aspires to be an accomplished cyclist.
